Giant Squids: Summer School is in session!

Giant Squid Summer School is in session and going full steam ahead. If you're a Giant Squid and missed out on this mastery course, cross your fingers for another one in the Fall!

Hey Giants...

Are you ready to blast the doors off the status quo? Interested in taking your lenses from great... to greater? Wish you could learn a few more tips from the pros? Craving a little structure and a little more networking with fellow Giants? Looking for a unique challenge over the summer?

We created the Giant Squid Summer School just for you.

8 weeks to total mastery

of course, you only get out what you put in

Over the next 8 weeks, we will teach you to truly rock Squidoo. We will dig into our bag of tricks and pull out all the insights and ideas and tips and stories and dares we can muster. We will give you encouragement and structure and a fun way to make lenses together-and more important-learn from each other.

It's part lensmaking challenge, part networking with fellow Giants, part daily lesson plans to goose you along.

Run by your Giant Squid Organizers, sponsored by Megan Casey, and contributed to by members of SquidHQ including Seth Godin, Kimberly Dawn Wells and more!

But hurry... school's about to start. We're kicking things off (on your secret Giant Squid Tips blog) on Friday June 12th with Orientation and a Meet & Greet.

It's free, of course. You've earned it by becoming a Giant.

If you want to participate, be sure to sign your name to the Guestbook on this lens.

Daily Lessons, Weekly Challenges, and your own private Giant Squids forum

Here's how the class will work

It's all happening on the secret Giant Squid Tips blog, which we're reorganizing to give you better ways to connect with each other.

Every week, we'll announce one lens theme. Your challenge each week is to make just 1 lens on that theme. 8 weeks, 8 lenses. The best you know how. Try out new stuff. New modules. Push yourself. Share your lens with fellow Giants along the way and get help and ideas and support. We'll post the weekly themes on Fridays, so you have that weekend and the following week to work your magic on your lenses. Complete all 8 lens assignments, and you graduate from Giant Squid Summer School with a Masters degree! Making lenses together has never been so fun.

Every weekday for 8 weeks, you will get a daily lesson. To help you along the way, as you're working on your new lenses each week, we'll post lessons. Just one tip a day. One idea. One to-do item. One easy thing to read and know and do that day. 5 minutes tops. Drip drip drip. Your Professors-at-Large posting these lessons will be your Giant Squid Organizers (Bonnie, Patti and Robin), Kimberly, Seth, Megan, and maybe a few guest professors.

With a new forum on the Giant Squid Tips blog you'll be able to comment on the lessons, chat with each other, even start new discussions about it to branch the ideas in whatever direction you like.

Summer School is in Session!

We're accepting late registrants through June 19th 2009. Just sign your name below to register.

After that, head over to your secret Giant Squid blog and follow the directions. If you're too late to register, you can still follow the lessons, you just won't have your lenses count toward graduation.

Here's what you get:

In addition to the community support, daily tips, exclusive lessons, the 8 new lenses you'll have under your belt, and lots of camaraderie...

If you complete your 8 weekly challenge lenses, you also get the following bonuses:

· A special "Graduation" chat party.

· 5 extra raffle tickets for our first big Purple Star Prize Giveaway in August.

· Bragging rights.

· And we hope some good friends!

Party hat not included.

Just a few of your Summer School professors!

Just like real school

You get out as much as you put in.

So why are we doing this?

That's easy.

We know that the Giant Squids are the most dedicated and talented lensmasters on Squidoo, demonstrated by your 50 (or in many cases, much more) terrific lenses.

We also know (and learned firsthand in the Rocketmoms project) that it's a lot of fun working together, in a smaller and more focused environment. We believe that sometimes, a little structure and guidance goes a long way.

So we wanted to give the Giants an opportunity to get together everyday, share some lenses, discuss ways to succeed and we hope learn a little. Not just from us, but from each other.

Register for Summer School Here

Giants only!

Sign your name and we'll save you a seat.

By signing your name, you're putting yourself out there. You're taking on the challenge of making 8 great new lenses in the next 8 weeks. Successfully complete the course, and you graduate!

It's okay if you think you might only be able to do a few, if you'll be off on vacation for a week during school, or if you'd rather sit in the back of the class and watch. Do what you can. You might surprise yourself.

Summer School starts Friday June 12th. We'll accept late registrations through the end of June 19th. After that, anyone who wants to can tag along, but you won't be in the running for graduation or prizes.

See you in school!

And feel free to throw all the paper airplanes you want. We're here to have fun.

P.S. For you Giants who are also Rocketmoms

Now we know that dozens of you Giant Squids are also RocketMoms.

We know that we've learned a lot from the Rocketmoms program, and from you! So we wanted to create a similar environment and platform that all our Giants, man and woman and young and old and purple and striped alike, can all participate in.

In order not to overwhelm you Giants who are also participating in the Rocketmoms lensmaking challenges, Bonnie will be organizing the special Friday Lensmaking Challenge in Rocketmoms to coincide with the Giant Squid challenge here. So you're not making double lenses. But she'll let you know all about it over in Rocketmoms.
