Gibson Les Special

Gibson Les Specials are electric guitars that are immensely popular among legendary rock guitarists. Gibson was the first to offer a solid-body electric guitar, unlike anything Fender had originally put out on the market. In fact, Fender had been manufacturing acoustic guitars like forever, and they were probably afraid to risk something that might give them a "bad" reputation like a bad-boy electric guitar, boy they were wrong. A mistake they made up for later, you could say that was kinda like Bill Gates as a teen asking for start up money of $500. What is a no-brainer today is not often so easily recognized.

Then there was the one and only "original" Les Paul. It was Gibson that went on to create many more electric guitar models, several are still being sold today in Gibson's regular electric guitar line, also as reissues or what you call limited edition models.

There are several version of the Les Paul available to you which include the Les Paul Standard and the Les Paul Studio as being the most chosen. Gibson includes a few reissues and custom models and some signature series, like Slash's and Joe Perry's signature Les Paul models.

Gibson SG:
An electric guitar introduced in the late 50's. Angus Young of AC/DC is the most recognized guitarist that plays a Gibson SG, Gibson sells an Angus Young signature model. Also like the Les Paul, the SG comes in standard model along with reissues.

Gibson Flying V:
The Gibson Flying V electric guitar became popular with the heavy-metal enthusiasts. It has also been around since the late 1950's.

Gibson Explorer:
The Gibson Explorer is another electric guitar that's popular among the classic head-banger metal guitarists. It is more rare to be seen, sold primarily as a a reissue. The Explorer's design was considered too futuristic for the 50's and was sadly discontinued. Talk about ahead of its time...

Gibson Firebird:
Gibson Firebirds were made between 1963-1965 and are what you call a "reverse body" design. The body of subsequent models changed to its current design after Fender sued Gibson over the design.

Gibson 300 series:
Several 300 models are available. This series are the old line of semi-solid electric guitars. Most popular is the ES-335 used to play the "blues" by B.B. King. Also, Chuck Berry was slinging his around when doing his signature leg kick dance. Gibson also has other models such as the ES-325, the ES-345, and the ES-355.

Gibson Melody Maker:
Gibson Melody Maker electric guitars feature a Les Paul design. The Joan Jett signature model has the SG double-cutaway shape that makes her love rock in roll so much.
