he daily life of a professional Barista is full of unexpected situations, new people and interesting observations about memorable situations that begin and end around a cup of coffee.
Recently, a barista working at a well established urban coffee house related an interesting story that took place at his shop.
In the barista's words, this was one of the most touching coffee exchanges he had heard in his shop.

Coffee is for lovers!

A
middle age couple, regular patrons, came by earlier than expected.
The weather was cold and drizzly outside, a perfect occasion for a cup of coffee! The man and his wife sat at their customary table near a window overlooking a small garden and the parking lot.
The man lovingly helped his wife get seated comfortably, confirmed the choice of regular black Organic Colombian coffee to order for her and proceeded to the counter. A very social man, he knew the barista by his first name and exchanged pleasantries with him while the barista prepared the coffee order.
Looking over the snack bar, the customer's eyes twinkled at the sight of freshly baked pumpkin bread, a favorite. A slice was promptly added to the order which included dark roasted Sumatra Mandheling.

After paying for the order, the man went back to the table and handed the Organic Colombian cup of coffee to his wife. She put her hands tightly around the cup, closed her eyes and took a breath of the coffee aroma. With the professional expertise of a coffee connoisseur, she let the liquid coffee linger on her tongue and mouth, and then swallowed it.

Finally, she opened her eyes, looked at her husband and said to him: you have been my Coffee Angel ever since we met in college and you shared your coffee thermos with me. Every time I drink coffee, I fall in love with you all over again.

The husband smiled and replied: Yes, I know the feeling and it is mutual. Too bad we cannot live our lives on a coffee plantation, but it was not meant to be. It's okay. Drinking coffee is our gateway to Heaven. You too are my Coffee Angel and it is such joy to enjoy the cup the way we do!

This day was the invention of an advertising agency executive from Young and Rubicam who recognized the importance and value a professional secretary to a company. National Arbor Day, last Friday in April.

National Arbor Day is the Tree Planter's holiday, and has been celebrated since 1872. This is a day to plant and dedicate a tree to help nature and the environment. Cinco de Mayo


Cinco de Mayo, the day the Mexican army defeated the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, a significant defeat of a European colonial power and a victory for the Mexican people.
