Gift Basket Finds, Make Your Gift Baskets Stand Out

Gift Baskets are fun to give or receive at any time of the year.  The baskets are pretty and come in a wonderful variety of shapes.  The wraps are festive and shiny, ranging from clear cellophane to seasonal designs.  The best and prettiest baskets are finished with the flourish of a great, big, fluffy bow.  Even the most hard-hearted curmudgeon can't help but smile if a gift basket comes his or her way.  Melt your sweetheart's heart at Valentine's Day with chocolate, coffee, tea, a soothing lotion, a picture frame, a journal that speaks of love.  Make the same contents seasonal by changing the ribbons and wraps. Hide the contents from view in a great re-usable tote bag and you will have a winning combination.

Making gift baskets and delivering them for other businesses present several self-employment opportunities for the small entrepreneur, too.

Materials for Making Great Gift Baskets

First, of course, you will need baskets or other wonderful containers. Baskets come in all shapes and sizes, with or without handles and in many colors.

Next you will need clear wrap. Bags Plus, in the links below, is my favorite online source for this as well as a variety of bags for smaller items.

Then, of course, you will need the gift contents themselves. These can range from food and beverages, through gardening and other hobby supplies, personal care products, whatever interests the recipient and fits the occasion. Fit things which will last along with consumables so that the recipient will remember your memorable and beautiful gift basket for a long time to come. For instance mugs and a coaster tile, such as those from my cafepress shop would pair up nicely with coffee, tea and chocolate.

Next, you will need ribbons and bows as well as small decorative items to finish the basket. Small teddy bears, cookie cutters, artificial flowers and bows of all sizes make a flourish at the top.

Finally, you will need a card to tell the recipient who the basket is from.

There you are with a list of materials.

Baskets and other containers such as decorative tins can be found at yard sales, rummage sales and thrift stores. Baskets will also usually be on sale at party planning stores and some chains after Easter. Stock up, if you have space.

I have found that I can stack baskets according to their size and then hang the stack from the closet rod to conserve space in my supply closet.

Bags Plus
This is my favorite place to buy bags on the Net. Plain cellophane, decorated cellophane and muslin drawstring bags are some of the finds here. They even have a bag big enough to contain a gift basket. (Measure your basket against the size of the bag to be sure of the fit, but this is a great idea.)

Fair Trade for All
We all love a bargain that's for sure! Just look at the popularity of sales and especially of garage and yard sales. But have you ever thought about what happens to the economy if every buyer makes every purchase a sale purchase? It contracts. It contributes to recession and to a lack of prosperity
