Gifts For 10 Year Old Boys

Ranked #1,581 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #17,221 overall

Need gift ideas for boys?

I have a 10-year-old boy and spend a lot of time with boys around his age so I know first-hand what boys like and this lens is all about sharing gift ideas for boys whether you need Christmas gift ideas, birthday gifts, or fun gifts for other occasions -- like Easter!

Now my son is into video games just like the next boy but I am going to try to offer a number of other alternatives before getting to video game systems and video games.

I will also try to cover a range of prices so you can find a great gift for any occasion and any budget..

This is a photo of my son and his birthday presents. He really wanted a skateboard for his birthday -- and of course we also got him a helmet and pads.

Birthday presents

The gift of speed

My son has had a scooter for years and really loves it. It always gets a lot of use.

He received his first skateboard for this 10th birthday and is still learning the ropes.

Make sure you protect your speedster with a helmet and pads!

Easter Presents

I grew up receiving toys in my Easter basket and we have continued that tradition with my son. He will get a small amount of candy but I would rather give him something fun than something fattening. Here is what my son will receive in his Easter basket this year. OK, he didn't get everything here -- but he did get something from each category!

Lego sets are still great gifts for boys

Lego sets are a great gift idea for boys because it provides hours of entertainment. My son enjoys building the intended set and playing games with his new "toy" but he also really likes creating something new from his existing pieces.

Star Wars is still very popular with my son and his friends so I know that he will really enjoy Luke's Landspeeder -- especially as it comes with a number of great mini figures!

I like these Hero Factor Lego sets because they offer lots of options for imaginative play. I am sure he will love them.

Big Nate

My son actually picked up the first book of this series at the school book fair but he will receive the rest in his Easter basket. This series is tremendously popular amongst his friends.

Pokemon

Pokemond seemed to hit around first grade and it continues to be of interest. They watch the TV show and play the video games -- and of course continue to trade cards and play the game. My son already has the Ultimate Handbook but I highly recommend it if your child doesn't have it. He regularly consults his to learn more about the game and strategies etc. And if your boy is a Pokemon fanatic then a gift card set is always a good idea. Black & White is the most recent game so chances are he doesn't have those yet. Even if he does he can always use them to trade.

Nintendo DS necessities

My son doesn't have the 3DS yet -- he has a DSI -- but most kids now have one of these portable game systems as they are so handy for play at home as well as on the go. Kids always need storage for all their games and accessories, and of course more games! If you aren't sure what game to buy (and don't want to ask) then a gift card will always fill the bill!

GameStop has locations all around the country and an online store so you can always find any game you might want. I just think it is such a great idea to do an age gift lens following your son and may 10 do as well as 9 for you, you may be doing this into his 60's!

My grandson is 11 so I was really interested in seeing your suggestions. I will have to ask him about the Big Nate series. I haven't heard him mention those.

You can never go wrong with Lego. I took my nephew (9 years old) to the local lego store recently and he could have spent hours in there.
