I'm not sure anyone actually knows what a hipster really is. During my quest to find this information, I have NOT run into one person who claims to be a Hipster. If anything they tend to deny the fact, even though they share some of the typical styles and attributes. Some of these people even seemed a bit offended by my question. YIKES! Why is this so difficult, and why doesn't anyone want to admit that they are a Hipster? I immediately turned to Urban Dictionary for some help, figuring they ought to know.

- The term "hipster" actually began with the "Dada Movement" in the early 1900's (around 1920's to 1930's in the US, earlier in Europe). It was them picked up by the "Beat Generation" (1940's to 1950's) later to change to the "Beatniks". In the 1960's the ghetto players mostly black population picked it up. Wasn't used much by the hippies in the 60's. You can take it from there. I believe it is a term that will remain with us regardless of the generation. It is a term usually used by the uncool about the cool. There you have it. Your trivia history for the day from a old fart that remembers. Fun lens. Enjoyed my visit.
