Gifts For People Who Live In Tiny Houses

Ranked #24,476 in Home & Garden, #369,504 overall

Welcome to my Holiday Gift Guide for People Who Live in a Tiny House!

More and more people are downsizing. As baby boomers reach their age of retirement, many want less, not more.

There is incredible relief in simplifying, which creates a life that is more about the present than holding on to things from the past or accumulating things for the future.

All that said, gift buying for the person who lives in a tiny house can be a challenge.

So what do you get the person who has moved into a tiny house?

Well, it's surly not more stuff. Read on...

Things That Can Be Used Up

People in tiny houses appreciate gifts, they really do. But things that can be used up are more practical.
1. Christmas Cookies. Yum Yum!
2. Candles. A nice "temporary" glow for the holidays.
3. Flowers. Cheery for a week or two. Remember to include an inexpensive vase. Tiny house people don't store vases. No plants please.

Christmas Cookies

A small tin of Christmas cookies for a tiny house, please. Easy because when they're gone, they're gone.

Christmas Decorated Dark Chocolate Oreo Cookie Tin -7 Oreos

Amazon Price: $15.00 (as of 05/31/2012)Buy Now

Tiny House people love to have the flavor of Christmas. But baking can be a challenge. Give the gift of a taste of Christmas and know that the tin will probably be recycled. Tiny House people are like that.

A Christmas Candle

Not just for one room, this candle will add holiday scent to the entire house. And when it's gone, it's gone.

Flowers For The Holidays

Flowers may cramp the tiny house for a short time. But they are oh so worth it. And when they're gone, they're gone.

Things That Can Stay Outside

Often, the most space a tiny-house owner has is the yard. Consider gifts that belong outside. One reminder with these outdoor gifts, storage can be an issue.

A Large Birdfeeder

Cherry Valley Feeder Large Wire Mesh Bird Feeder

Amazon Price: $16.67 (as of 05/31/2012)Buy Now

This wire mesh bird feeder is a great gift for a tiny house dweller. It can be hung year round, no matter the weather conditions. Consider gifting a large metal trash can to store bird seed if your tiny house owner does now have outside storage. No plastic, please. The chewing critters eat through plastic products.

Wind Chimes

For every sale from Amazon on this page, Squidoo donates $1 to Room to Read

Most tiny houses have a place to hang a wind chime.

Woodstock Percussion CAW Castings Acorn Windbell

Amazon Price: $6.61 (as of 05/31/2012)Buy Now

I especially like this one because it has a nature motif with the acorn bell. Most people who live in tiny houses are lovers of nature.

Add a Little Glow to a Tiny House Yard

I love the wildlife motif on this one.

Tiny House Reading

When you live in a tiny house, everything gets downsized just a little. No room for books? Consider giving your favorite tiny house dweller an electronic bookshelf.

The Amazon Kindle

Most tiny house dwellers love to read. But tiny houses have very, very small bookshelves, if any.

Good suggestions, and also useful for people who have to relocate a lot. (I speak from experience.)

great suggerstions. I could see moving into a tiny house, but I would have a tough time giving up some "big house" things.
