I make the Cranberry Creme cookies gift in a jar every Christmas for my family and friends, the love soup I make every Easter, and my personal favorite the Double Fudge Brownies are a great Valentines gift for the kids, they love to make the brownies...I've also added a free recipe for you to use in your gifts in a jar!
You can see from my images that I use large tags, these are the gifts in a jar I've made for my local farmers market, which is a great idea if your needing a little extra cash...

I use different size jars depending on what I'm putting in them
Hot Cocoa Mix
Recipe for gifts in a jar
- Serves: Makes 5 1/2 cups of mix
- Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Decorate your jar anyway you like, give it a theme or dress it up as a character...These Cocoa Mix jars are great gifts at Christmas time when the weather is cold...
Note Picture is not the Hot Cocoa mix, I don't have any jars made up, so I added this picture of chocolate fudge brownies, just so you could see the decorating when I make up some cocoa jars I'll change this picture...
Ingredients
- 3 Cups powdered milk
- One 5-oz package non-instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1/2 Cup powdered non-dairy creamer
- 1/4 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 Cup powdered sugar
Instructions
Mix Instructions (For The Jar)
Layer all the ingredients in the order that they are listed, using a quart size canning jar
Using a spoon try to pat the layer so that the next layer doesn't run threw, or you can put
a towel folded under the jar and gently bang the jar on the counter, not to hard...

Stir contents of jar before measuring
Add 1 heaping tablespoon Cocoa Mix to 1 cup boiling water

Dollar StoreYou can get cheap decorations at dollar stores like wooden spoons, pot holders, tea towels and even plastic flowers
CraigslistWhen it comes time that I need more decorations I always check the free section of Craigslist, I have been able to get all the fabric I'll ever need for the jar lids
Craft StoresBest place to get ribbons and plastic flowers or even the glue that you'll need to attach the flower to the jar, I still prefer to use the dollar store for most of my decorations less expensive

Acrylic paints work well on glass. I would use a stencil and fingernail polish to make stars and hearts on the jar. Then I would cut out fabric with stars and hearts (or do an iron on of the shapes) to make a fabric circle to cover the jar lid. Any shapes could be used. I like stars, hearts ♥ and butterflies.

Well, I'm kind of a Plain Jane and like to keep things simple, so I'd probably cut a square of pretty calico to match the occasion and slip it over the ring and under the lid, like a belted mini table skirt. Then I'd tie one of your pretty recipe cards on with a matching or contrasting ribbon or perhaps one of those slim elastic metallic ties, as appropriate

I make different scented milk bath and put it into jars
Recipe For A Milk Bath
For The Milk Bath Use Pint Jars
- Serves: One Pint Jar
- Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Ingredients
- 1 C. Dry milk
- 8 drops scented oil -perfume oil or essential oil
Instructions
Mix 1 cup of dry milk with 8 drops of oil.
Be sure to mix well.
Add more oil if you want a stronger scent.
Place in a pint jar for gift giving and decorate your jar anyway you like.
Instructions (For The Tag)
To use, add to running bath water. You come out soft and smelling good!
