Lamaze My First Mirror
Babies absolutely love mirrors, both for looking in and for licking, this mirror has the advantage of being on a wedge so that they can see themselves from different angles.
It can also be attached to strollers and car seats when going out, this is a fantastic idea. When my daughter was little we had a mirror that she could hold at home, but it wouldn't attach to her stroller - we ended up buying a second type just to attach to the stroller. If I had seen these mirrors then, I would have been very happy!
The bright colors and different surfaces on the triangular cube (that the mirror is attached to) interest the baby as well.

Introduce the Baby to Reading
Her books of rhyme captivate children and also help them to learn to read from an early age. I read these stories to my daughter from the time she was a baby and, as gifts, these books always become firm favorites.
All of these books are board books, so the baby will not rip the pages and can hold on to them easier as they get older.

Now I didn't have this book in my daughter's collection for some reason and when she went to daycare they read the book to her. She came home talking about Zachary Quack constantly and so her grandparents ended up buying her her own copy!

The initial ones for the young baby go for 20 mins and introduce the baby to colors, music and an assortment of other things. A parent can chose to interact with their child or can sit down with a well deserved cup of tea/coffee while the baby is entertained!
Baby Einstein Gift Pack Volume 2 (Baby Mozart/Baby Van Gogh/World Animals/Neighborhood Animals)
Baby Mozart was the first Baby Einstein dvd that I became aware of. We had just moved to Brisbane and were staying with friends for a couple of weeks whilst our house was being vacated. They had a young baby and when she couldn't be settled they put her in front of Baby Mozart and it was truely amazing.
We brought quite a few of the Baby Einstein dvd's and I loved the Baby Van Gogh one. My daughter really seems to appreciate art and loves checking out paintings and commenting on them - I credit Baby Van Gogh with that.

Baby Einstein Gift Pack Volume 1 (Baby Bach/Baby Newton/Baby Einstein/Baby Shakespeare)
Baby Bach was the first Baby Einstein dvd I brought as my friend already had the Baby Mozart so we could swap them.
The Baby Shakespeare was fantastic for when the baby is getting older (1+) and I think that this dvd coupled with Lynley Dodd's fantastic books is definately one of the reasons that my daughter is at the top of her class in English.
