Thinking About Gin

If you are already a fan of Gin or new to the beverage I encourage you to look around. Gin is not just 3 or 4 brands nor is it limited to a standard taste. Gin is made by large distillers and by dozens and dozens of smaller companies and artisans. Instead of a wine tasting for your next fund raiser why not have a Gin tasting.

My three favorite ways to drink Gin are in a Martini, over ice with cranberry juice and when summer is at its peak there is nothing better then a Gin & Tonic. I'm always open to different ways to try Gin and look forward to parties with inventive Gin combination waiting for me to try.

Check out the list of world class bars and the list of streaming Jazz radio stations at the bottom of the page, add some atmosphere to your cocktail parties.

Of course drink responsibly and always have a designated driver.

Martini Quotes

from Whikipedia and other sources

W. Somerset Maugham declared that "martinis should always be stirred, not shaken, so that the molecules lie sensuously one on top of the other,"

E. B. White called it "the elixir of quietude".

H. L. Mencken once called the martini "the only American invention as perfect as the sonnet".

After a nice bubble bath, I'll put on some nice music, have a cigar and a martini and some cotton candy. Then I'm feeling really good.
Toni Braxton

Why don't you get out of that wet coat and into a dry martini?
Robert Benchley

One martini is all right. Two are too many, and three are not enough.
James Thurber

I am prepared to believe that a dry martini slightly impairs the palate, but think what it does for the soul.
Alec Waugh

William Emerson Jr. said "New York is the greatest city in the world for lunch That's the gregarious time. And when that first martini hits the liver like a silver bullet, there is a sigh of contentment that can be heard in Dubuque".

Humphrey Bogart said "I should never have switched from Scotch to Martinis."

Gin is my favourite beverage (next to an ice cold beer) but I prefer my gin with, cherries and a spoon or two of froze juice in it. A fruity beverage served over ice.

Leave the booze out of this great summer drink recipe? Not by the hair on my ginny-gin-gin. OK, that was really bad, but the drink, Thyme Lemonade from Everyday Food magazine, was really good. Gin takes its taste to whole new level of deliciousness. I write about it on my blog at http://recipes-that-worked.blogspot.com/2010/06/to-gin-or-not-to-gin-that-is-question.html

I just wanted to add a great gin cocktail recipe... Gin'ger & Tonic...

    - 2 slices of fresh root ginger
    - 2 shots of gin
    - 1/4 shot of sugar syrup
    - Top up with tonic water

Muddle the gin in the base of the shaker, add the gin and sugar sryup and shake well. Then strain into an ice filled glass and top up with tonic. Give it a stir and you have a great tasting cocktail. Can be seen here http://www.thecocktailstore.co.uk/cocktail-knowledge/cocktail-recipes-g.html
