Girl Smurfette Costume

I have found Smurfette Halloween costumes to fit any age girl; child or adult. I will start with the adult Smurfette costumes and work down to the Smurfette costumes for infants. You will also find tips for homemade DIY Smurfette costumes as well as makeup tips for turning your skin into a lovely shade of blue.

Personally, I am more of a semi-homemade DIY costumer. I will usually only buy items that look better than what I can make at home. Prior to that, I will scour thrift stores, garage sales, consignment shops, Etsy and eBay looking for authentic looking pieces to use for my costume of the year. Making a Smurfette costume is one of the easiest costumes you could possible make. All it takes is the white Phrygian cap (Smurf hat), a white sundress, white heels, a blonde wig (if you are not already a blond with long hair) and a blue cotton-tail.

For the blue skin, there are several options for you. A blue turtleneck and blue leggings or tights are the easiest way, or you can use blue body paint and blue makeup to turn your skin blue. If you have an air brush, or you know someone who does, it is a fast simple way to not only color your skin blue, but to actually paint "Smurf" details onto your face too.

Tip:Buy a white turtleneck, white tights and white cotton gloves. Dye them all together in one batch of blue dye. That way they will all be exactly the same color blue!

Smurfette Child's White Hat

You can make a Smurf hat out of a large white stocking cap stuffed with fiberfill to give it the full thick look or you can cut out a pattern drawn on tissue paper. Pin the pattern to white felt and cut out the pattern. Next glue (using fabric glue) or sew the two pieces together and stuff it with scrap fabric or fiberfill.

Buy white cotton gloves, a white turtleneck leotard, and white tights. Dye them all blue together in one batch of blue dye. That way they will all be exactly the same color blue!

All Smurfettes and Smurfs have a blue Smurf tail. The easiest way to get one for your Smurffette Costume is by making a pom pom. There are pompom makers that you can buy, but you don't need to. You can easily make a blue pom pom at home with blue yarn and two (2) circles you have cut from cardboard.

Once the pom pom is made it can be attached to the butt of the costume with safety pins or attached with fabric glue. I prefer the small safety pin. That way it can be removed, making all parts of the costume reusable for something else when Halloween or the costume party have ended. Remember to position your Smurfette tail in such a way that you will be comfortable when sitting down!

If your butt is not exposed when bending over in your short white Smurfette jumper dress, you may be able to get away without using a tail at all.
