Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Costume: Get Lisbeth Salander's Look

Looking to put together a Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Costume? Lisbeth Salander--one of the lead characters in the hit movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, certainly turned heads on-screen. She's an enigma of a girl: part cyber-geek, park punk (should we call her "cyber-punk?"), part introvert...the list goes on and on. No matter how you describe her, this beyond-intelligent heroine has a one-of-a-kind look.

Mohawk Hair from The Girl with the Tattoo Movie

When we first meet Lisbeth Salander, she's wearing her hair in a mohawk style. This wig allows you to achieve her look easily! Be sure to pick up a wig cap when you wear any wig: it hides your natural hair and helps to keep the wig in place.

Flapper Wig (Black)

Lisbeth Salander Wig

The one thing that stands out the most in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is Lisabeth Salander's hair. Sometimes it's worn straight up in a mohawk, but often it's worn down and styled choppy.

I like this wig option because it can be customized. You'll need to cut the bang part to about 1/2". Since this wig has long bangs, this can be easily done.

Then, you'll need to make the rest of this wig a little choppy. It's very inexpensive, so take a pair of scissors and cut away! Lisbeth Salander's is cut into a mohawk and she often wears it in a tiny ponytail. Once you've gotten this wig nice and choppy, tie it back into a pony tail, pinning some pieces back if needed. Then, allow some to naturally fall into your face.

Lisbeth Salander--Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Rooney Mara wears minimal makeup as she plays Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. If you're looking to recreate the look at home, make sure to liberally powder your face with a very light face powder--her look is very matte and alabaster.

Use a bit of dark eyeliner on your lower lids only--and steer clear of any mascara whatsoever.

Lisbeth Salander actually bleaches her eyebrows--assuming you don't want to go that route, you can recreate it by applying concealer in the same tone as your skin color as this will cover up the pigment of your eyebrows. Be sure to pat some powder over the concealer to help it set.
