You paint on cow skulls?!?

How it all started...
The summer before my senior year in high school I was in the Youth Conservation Corps. It was a program funded by the Dept. of the Interior and was for kids interested in natural sciences. There were 30 of us, half girls and half boys which wasn't probably the best idea, but I digress... We worked at several lakes in western Kansas and a fish hatchery located at one of the lakes. No power equipment was allowed and it was a lot of hard work but I loved it. I was always dragging things back to our dorm from the work sites; neat rocks, driftwood, cactus, whatever was cool and could be carried off!
On one weekend they took us camping at Wilson Lake, which is a beautiful sand bottomed lake, unusual for Kansas. A few of the kids went on a hike and found the skeleton of a cow. They knew me well enough to know that I would think it was sooo cool, so they brought me the skull and various other bones. That was my first skull and I have carried it with me over the years and through many moves. It's sort of a totem to me and I will never post a photograph of it but I will say it is painted in a design that has special meaning to me and has extra hangings of feathers, beads and leather.
Over the years people I know have given me skulls, cows mostly but also a horse, a dog, a bobcat and a house cat. I have also found a few wandering around when I was supposed to be fishing at farm ponds.
I doubt I'll ever sell one but that's really not important to me. I listed the two I have on my Etsy shop mainly for them to be seen. And to the people that say "What is she thinking?" all I can say is if you get it, cool...if not, oh well.

My latest...
I was having trouble with getting the points of the star even and with making the sides straight (it's not that easy to paint a straight line on an uneven surface) so I got this brilliant idea to use striping tape like they do when pin-striping a car. It worked pretty good until I went to take off the tape, all of the paint underneath the tape came off also! After sanding it down I found that there was enough color left that I could follow the outline of the points so all was not in vain after all. New Flickr Photos
Ok, tell me how much of a weirdo I am...
