Along the same lines, we have also begun a library for each of them by purchasing the highest quality books we can find- some newly published and some which are old favorites. We hope that by reading these books, both now and in the future, our daughters will develop the skills needed to be sucessful women- wives, mothers, and homemakers. Take a peek at our girls' bookshelf.
Womanhood and Character
Stepping Heavenward (Inspirational Library Series)
This book is written in the form of a diary which follow the character's life from girlhood into womanhood, as she struggles with issues of contentment and submission to the will of God. I'm ashamed to admit how often I could identify with her. This book is one which ought to be read on a regular basis.
Passion and Purity: Learning to Bring Your Love Life Under Christ's Control
This book takes you through the courtship of Elizabeth and Jim Elliot. A wonderful story, full of godly advice for single girls who long for a companion.
Passionate Housewives Desperate for God
I first met Jennie Chancey when she came to speak at a ladies' tea I was attending, although my husband and I actually "met" her husband years before when he did some legal research for us. This book, like the speech she gave that day, is full of Biblical wisdom presented in a personal way which makes it a pleasure to read. Jennie and Stacey, her co-author, do a great job of counteracting feminist propaganda while showing the ultimate way to fufillment.
Marriage and Family Life
Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires; The Respect He Desperately Needs
Finally, a book that actually helps us make sense of the opposite sex! Find out how to dramatically improve your marriage by obeying the council of God.
Christian Living in the Home
I guess I'm partial to this book because I've had the honor having Dr. Adams as a pastor and I've spent time in his home. Not only does Jay Adams give sound Biblical advice, but he lives it as well.
Everyday Talk: Talking Freely and Naturally about God with Your Children
When we were in college, my husband and I had the honor of attending a Bible study class taught by Jay Younts and know his teaching to be wise and thoughtful. He also has a wonderful family. I am currently reading this book and am finding it excellent.
Homemaking Skills
Open Heart, Open Home: The Hospitable Way to Make Others Feel Welcome & Wanted
Are you too embarassed by your messy home to invite anyone over? This book will give you a fresh outlook on the subject of hospitality. It is a must read for every Christian homemaker.
The Hidden Art of Homemaking
In this easy to read book, Edith Schaffer points out all the different ways a woman (or man for that matter) can create beauty in their surroundings. Even the most humble of homes can become a home if we start where we are and use what we have.
Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House
This book is the ultimate reference guide for anything having to do with keeping house.
Cookwise: The Secrets of Cooking Revealed
I f you've ever wondered how baking powder makes cookies rise, this book is the one you've been looking for. It's not so much a cookbook as it is a scientific explaination of the cooking process. Very useful!
Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book
This is my FAVORITE cookbook. I have my mom's old copy. It is the only cookbook of the dozens I own that I use on a regular basis.

Instruments in the Redeemer's Hands: People in Need of Change Helping People in Need of Change (Resources for Changing Lives)
God works through his people! See how God can use your life to bless others and meet the needs of broken souls in a sin wrecked world.
Sunsets: Reflections for Life's Final Journey
When I bought this book, it was on the recomendation of someone who had just lost a loved one. In her review, she stated how she wished she had read this book before his death. I really had every intention of reading it right away, but I didn't finish it until after my grandma's death. Head my advice! This is a book you want to read BEFORE you lose someone you love. Excellent council for those who are facing or have faced death and loss. Isn't that all of us?
What books do you recommend for girls?

I think you've picked out some great titles here. I love inspirational books for girls. Girls really need guidance and what better guidance is there than the word of God. Great lens. I hope to see more good inspirational lenses from more Squids! Excellent job! 5 stars!
