Girl Scout Council's Own Badges

Is your scout bored with the badges in her Badge book? Help is on the way! Here is a collection of links to unique Council's Own badges, patches, and more from the various Councils of the United States.

What is a Council's Own?

A Council's Own award is an award created by a certain council. Often times, the award is unique to the history or territory of the council. In most circumstances, scouts from any council are encouraged to earn the award. Unique awards for all levels of Girl Scouts are available through the various councils.

Earn You Car Care Badge

The Newest Girl Scout Merit Badge

November 2006 (Medialink) - Girl Scouts in a car service garage? No, they are not selling cookies. They are earning a first-of-its-kind merit badge - automotive. Most Girl Scouts are too young to drive a car. But, that doesn't mean it's not important for them to have knowledge about something they probably ride in everyday - and will even drive at some point in their lives. Cadets can earn their 'Car Sense Badge' by taking a more proactive approach in preventative maintenance. They learn how to do things like changing the oil and checking tire pressure. This badge is one way to encourage and teach children about non-traditional career paths. There are many opportunities available in the automotive business, as carmakers need workers at all levels - from design to engineering; to sales and service. General Motors is supporting the Girl Scout Car Care badge by hosting clinics at dealerships nationwide. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Produced for General Motors

We have earned Council's Own badges from all over the country. Some are very location specific, but most can be adapted to your area without much trouble at all!

Most councils will allow girls from any council to earn their awards. It's a good idea to contact them to make sure. Our girls have earned awards from many other councils. (Including the Canoe Crusaders and Marvelous Mysteries from yours) They really enjoy the counci's own; they just seem to be a bit more fun.

Just wondering if you can earn council own badges from ANY council in any state. We are with Black Diamond Council out of WV. My daughter found some of the others states very interesting. Is it possible for her to earn these as well? Thanks!!!
