It seems to me that most of us start our adulthood less than confident and not being able to pat ourselves on the back. Fortunately, there are lots of inspired teachers around who are source of wisdom for us to grow and expand. Thank you for this beautiful lens! :)

Your own story of finding strength is inspiring and those gifts are beautiful reminders to focus on positive messages.

Your beautiful flower photos make a lovely look for this worthwhile topic. I find that too often I downplay my achievements. Sometimes I work to overcome that over-modesty, but then it sounds like I'm bragging. Hard to find a medium ground.

You've included some of my favorite quotes on this lens. I especially resonate with the Marianne Williamson quote about being powerful beyond measure.

I wrote once that our purpose in life perhaps more than anything else is to chip away everything that we are not, so that we may share with the world the masterpiece that we are.

Thank you for sharing your story, I've walked some of the same path and have had to forgive and take responsibility for the way I feel too, weed out, try again, more weeding and pull out by the roots.....giving myself credit right now, still a work in progress.......

Wow, Patricia, good for you! Love Marianne Williamson, I've read all her books. You are a great poet, and you have much courage; you are an artist/photographer and you impact many people. You are a beautiful soul, don't forget it:)

I generally think I am a genius, but I knock myself down, because I have the feeling that people find me lacking. Lacking in class, or education, or interesting, too quiet, too weird, an oddball. Plain strange, outsider and unfriendly or worse I feel people think I am a fake. So my problem is not that I do not give myself credit because I know I can do many things, I just think others don't give me credit. Subsequently, I have been depressed most of my life. That feeling of depression even when I am happy and having fun.

I take mediation to help. The brain chemicals are out of wrack without it, and I feel much better now. Many of these feelings originated at Sunday School, the outsider feelings, so trying to get relief through spirituality was fruitless.

Certain things here at Squidoo has prompt me to flood your comment box, but I totally trust you. Thank you for saying "Let me know your thoughts"

Sherry, you are not weird, but you might just be a genius! I admire you greatly!
