Two months ago I decided to have my bathroom remodelled and looked online for local Glasgow bathroom designer..(as I happen to live there..)

I contacted several. One company was a particularly well known outfit who gave us the 3 hour hard sell, offering us a £10,600 bathroom at "only £20 a week sir" Ermm..over 10 years that is... Needless to say the price at the end of his pitch didn't make us smile.

The second firm I had quote us was better priced however the designer who came along provided little choice and never really took into consideration in what we actually wanted, preferring to sell us stuff we really didn't want.

I'd heard about a small, local glasgow bathroom company called Dynamic Home Improvements who had a teriffic reputation based on customer feedback posted on the net. This was the company who created what would turn out to be a stunning new modern bathroom for us at a really good price, perfect!

The man who came to see us and help make our decisions was fantastic, very courteous and listened to what we actually wanted plus he pointed out several options to the design that the others hadn't. The price was spot on also and the results were truly amazing. His team of workers were also fantastic, clean, punctual and meticulous. The result is absolutely fabulous!

Why Do Similar Bathrooms Cost Twice The Price?

I asked all three salesmen a similar question. " Why is does your quote cost double (or half) the other guys?
Now this may shock you but the truth is that in many cases, the salesperson will earn around £1000 ($1500) for the privelage of spending two or three hours with you selling his wares.
This is the problem when you are engaged in a quotation for a new bathroom or kitchen for that matter from one of the larger companies and believe me, some salespeople are excellent at relieving you of your hard earned and then some.

Here's a general rule of thumb when wondering how much to pay for a new bathroom regardless of the company involved:
Cost of materials, bath, furniture, taps, shower and tiles etc. Add these up before the appointment. Add around £1200 profit for the company, which is fair enough and finally the wages of the bathroom installers which is usually around £1200 for a normal size bathroom.
Budget for more if you are having ceiling work, getting furniture fitted or if you are having any plumbing repositioned.
A fair price for a UK bathroom should be around £3500 - 5000 or thereabouts.
Remember also that the quality of tiles can vary and should be taken into account in the material costs, again budget around £15 per square metre for good quality tiles. Like everything else the cost of tiles can vary enormously so watch out for that.

    I had a look at this company and yes it's great value. I also looked at another Glasgow company Aable Ltd www.aableltd.co.uk
    who again had some good offers. My plan is to try B & Q www.diy.com
    and Hombase next.before we make our decision on where to buy our fitted bathroom.

Something Scary Lurking beneath Your Bath...

This Can Be Costly Also..be Careful!

One other thing to look out for when having a new bathroom installed is the condition of the floor beneath the bath. It's common for there to have been a leak for some considerable time from the pipework etc.
This scenario shouldn't really occur if the bath/ bathroom is situated in the first floor because obviously you would notice any water leaking downstairs.
However if the leak has been on-going for some time in a downstairs bathroom it can cause all sorts of structural damage to the property and at least the floorboards supporting the bath. Subsequently a new floor may be required.
The exact situation happened to me at my Glasgow bathroom and cost over £400 to repair. Watch out for that one!

If you are wondering how you can maximise the space in your old bathroom but can't quite figure out how, ask the man from Dynamic Home Improvements (01698 300820)
We managed to save a small fortune by simply searching for a cheap Glasgow bathroom company who could do a great job. Anyway I was amazed at how the designer came up with some neat ideas.
Many homes are built originally with ease of construction in mind and we had a huge bulkhead containing loads of pipes so this was taking up a lot of space. The bathroom expert from Dynamic designed the bathroom so that basin was moved to another wall and all of the pipes hidden underneath the floor and the result is a lot more space, much more that we ever expected. Check Out The Extra Storage..

Consider Bathroom Furniture...It's Worth The Extra.

Hopefully you like my little video I produced with the pictures we took. As you can see, the added storage gives us more flexibility as before we had absulutely none. Notice the absence of a bath here. We decided to remove the bath as we are usually too busy for baths and the designer from Dynamic Home Improvements, Uddingston chose a cool U shaped enclosure for us, it looks great.
The workmen also re routed all of the plumbing under the floor so there is no boxing in of pipes visible, a real bonus and worth the extra expense I think.
So make sure you chose the right Glasgow bathrooms company when you decide to remodel yours.

Finish off your bathroom in style.

There are a few conventional ways in which you can turn a boring bathroom ceiling into a funky new style. I was really impressed with the designer from Dynamic Home Improvements, he came up with an idea I'm running with at the moment and I will post the photos soon.
My funky new ceiling will involve installing a sheet of silver reflective laminate which has a kind of psychadelic design shaped into it, actually it's really cool and I know that no one else will have it. I can't wait to have it installed!
