Cut glass and Glass blowing has a long history dated back to the early man era and to the Egyptians era. The cut glass was found to the primitive ages of human kind and was used as weapons. They were used as blades or sharp edged spears by the early man. To the early man glass was an object which was found with extreme rare conditions. They were the product of volcanic erupts which were found by the early man. They were erupted from the volcanos with sharp edged corners which were utilized as spear heads by the early man for hunting and their protection.
As the time passed on later it was found that if the the glass was put in extreme heated conditions then it become a semi liquid solution which can be molded to any required shape. This art of shaping the glass into any required form as imagined came to be known as the glass blowing art. In the ancient times these glass pieces were considered to be very valuable and precious. They were even counted as substitutes for the precious stones and gems. The Egyptians developed this skill of art and even used these glass pieces in trading. Glass objects were sighted more commonly after the discovery of glass blowing art. The Roman Empire adopted this art and made many more good glass blowing objects. The vases, bottles and wine glasses were mouth blown and developed them into fine pieces of admiration in the Roman Empire. These glass pieces were used on a daily basis in a common way in the Roman society.

The development in the procedure of making the glass was changed in every generation. In 1000 AD the raw material was replaced from soda lime to the potash, which was easily obtained from the wood ashes. From this change there was a difference in the glass made from the northern part of Europe to the Mediterranean area where still the glass Blowing was made from soda lime. Later on as the time changed, the potash material which was used in making the glass was replaced by the ashes from the beach trees. This change in the replacement was done by the Bohemians. It was progressively refined over the years to bring perfection in making of the glass.

In the 11th century the new methods were adopted to make flat sheet glass in the Germany. While the glass is hot and in a semi liquid solution is cut into cylinders and the spread into sheets in the same hot condition. Then it is cooled enough in the furnaces and when it is hard enough is used as thick flat sheets of glass. In the 12th century then came the arrival of stained glass. In this metal impurities were added to the glass solution to get different colors in the glass. These glass Blowing sheets you can see in the windows of any back dated churches. The 14th century belonged to the Venice as it became the dominant center of producing the glass all around the world. Secrets of glass making in different methods were kept in a high secretive manner. But the skilled workers moved on to the different part of Europe's later on with their knowledge and skills of making the fine glass pieces. And from then the glass production method is taking a step ahead every century it passes on. But the traditional glass blowing method did not lose its shine ever till now. There are many skilled professional who still follow this traditional method to make a fine piece of art.
