Glasses Cases range from the hard plastic rigid type to the new soft material type that can be easily folded away. The different types of cases can be manufactured from plastics, leathers, soft fabrics and also nylon to cotton.

The traditional style is where the eyeglasses are kept in a hard case that usually folds out which are made from hard plastic or even leather. These are found in many places and can be purchased from opticians and consumer stores.

When purchasing a glasses case you must firstly ask yourself what is it I need the case to do? Do I need a big bulky rigid one or will a small soft fabric type do? From experience I have found that when I take my glasses off, I need to put them down or even in my pocket. However I do not wish to scratch the lenses either. I find that the traditional glasses cases are way to wide and deep to put them into my pocket so that I can easily transport them around. Therefore I have purchased a soft fabric glasses case that can easily be inserted into my pocket without taking up too much room.
The soft fabric type has distinctive advantages over the hard rigid type in which I will now list. Firstly the soft fabric type can be made from a range of materials with patterns on or can be plain. This case can then be lined with cotton inside which protects the lenses from being scratched. Secondly the case can have any type of tab on that can be fitted with a zip, popper or Velcro in order to secure the case to stop the glasses from falling out. Lastly the case can be made to measure the glasses, it is much lighter and can be in any style or fashion required.

Other types of glasses case can be manufactured from plastics and made into designer handbags, purses, pencil case style, animal shape styles and many other aesthetically pleasing shapes and structures. The price of these cases can range from a few pounds up to a few hundred pounds.
