For about one year now I've been working with Drupal a content management system. The program takes sometime to get used to as it is completely different. Many individuals use and promote Wordpress which is great blog software and others have taken it to higher levels.

Drupal takes more effort to get what you want out of it initially, yet I feel that it has more potential for serious web masters then just about any other software. This thought is primarily because it is so difficult to use, I almost feel the search engines have this figured into their algorithm.

My First Drupal Site in which I talk about what I've learned about the system and how to implement it.

My Second Drupal Site talks about a subject I'm keenly interested in, Solar Energy.

Finding the time to write in every site you have can and always will be difficult. Sometimes there is to much of a good thing.

With Drupal, I can have everything from what looks like a static site to a blog to a forum just by installing and setting up a few modules. If your looking for a content management system and don't mind spending a little time educating yourself it maybe for you!

Well today is the day so many people have been waiting for. I can still remember when so many people complained about the lack of high speed internet access.

I guess for many people this is extremely important, yet there are so few areas that actually support the high speed wireless data rates. So what is all the fuss about?

Probably because most people want something that the could surf the net etc... while at work? You know how employers track your computer use on their machines?

The new phone does bring in some nice features with GPS, yet I still wonder just how effective it will be?

Still after almost a year with my early version, it is the best phone I've owned period. With the new pricing, it is attractive yet I won't be getting rid of mine anytime soon.

Almost everyday I read something new written about the Apple Laptops. And today I couldn't agree more finally a laptop that is quite a bit more eco-friendly then that average pc.

Especially when Maximum PC titles it "Best In Class."

When you couple that with software that runs at a much more reasonable cost you have a truly win-win situation.

For me starting with the Apple operating system Tiger I found it nice, then along came Leopard and wow what a change.

It was at that point that I became firmly convinced that Microsoft was in big trouble with Vista. Sure I know they'll eventually get it to work but it maybe a little to late.

Apple's upcoming operating system Snow Leopard is rumored to target the enterprise level, which has seen a dramatic increase in the number of Mac's in the office.

Until then if you have the opportunity visit a apple store and take a mac for a test drive you just might take one home!

I can remember years ago starting out with a commodore Vic-16, moving on to the Commodore Vic-64 and then the Amiga 500.

What a journey it has been, do you remember the days of hand coding a program and storing it on a tape drive.

Look at where we are today, my iPhone has more computing power then many of those earlier models that I cut my teeth on.

I can still remember playing with Windows in the early days growing both to love and hate the program.

The final straw was when they rolled out Vista! I made the decision to investigate the Mac world and have really never regretted it.

When it comes to website design software which one should you use is a question that is often asked. Many times it is a matter of personal preference or you business budget.

Personally I like Dreamweaver the best! After spending almost a year working with Frontpage someone finally gave me some advice that I now consider priceless. It always seemed frontpage would never act consistently.

Both Dreamweaver and Frontpage have a large number of templates to get you started with. With slight modifications you can have a very unique looking website.

If you elect to go the with Dreamweaver you'll find that it's integration with Adobe's Fireworks software is great. Fireworks allows you to optimize graphics quickly and easily through the interaction with Dreamweaver.

Frontpage it should be noted will only work on a Windows based computer, although you could run it on a Mac through Parallels which of course would have to be running Windows within a virtual machine.

Dreamweaver depending on version can be run on either the Mac or Windows. Personally I like the ease of use of the Mac but found Dreamweaver much more enjoyable in layout on Windows, I guess it just comes down to what your used to.

If your budget is a major concern, and you don't mind rolling up your sleeves a little there is another alternative called "NVU"this program is an open source free program.

For an open source graphics program which is also free is called "Gimp"with any of these programs and a learning curve you can produce your own unique website in no time at all.

A very good reason to learn how to create your own site is it gives you back the control you need. If you need to make changes immediately to your site for a new product or announcement, you want it done today! Check out the different programs and find out a just how easy it really can be.

If your a Mac User and looking for blogging software that works from your desktop take a look at Marsedit.

While in a previous post I talked about MacJournal, which has a version for both Windows and Mac, Marsedit is Mac only.

What I find intriguing is that ME works great with Drupal another up and coming CMS package.

I found the software easy to use and presented a feature that I really liked. By editing the preview template, using your blogs template parameters the preview shows you just what your blog post will look like on your site.

While that may not be important to some of you, I found it to be great. When using the program with Drupal, it was easy to set it up to where I could not only write to the blog but I could also write to pages and story pages.

And once again see exactly how they would look on the site before uploading. The right software can make your time much more productive.

You may be wondering just what is Drupal, it is an open source of software that quite a few major online publication and commercial businesses are moving to, with Popular Science being just one of them.

So what all does this mean for you in your home business? One of the things I look at is software that not only works but makes me productive with my time.

It is not always easy to find just that right tool that really serves a purpose, part of having a web site is being able to update content and write new content whenever you have that moment of inspiration.

And if you have multiple blogs, both Marsedit and Macjournal will accommodate all of them with ease.
