It is said that "necessity is the mother of invention" and this certainly rings true in the case of this insomniac/ideasmith. Unable to shut off his mind when it was time for bed (the real reason millions of North Americans are not sleeping) and unable to find anything to help him, he invented his own solution: the Glo to Sleep.

GLO TO SLEEP
No Ordinary Sleep Mask
Sure! It just looks like a regular sleep mask. (And maybe it's worth noting that it is extremely lightweight, SO comfortable, and completely breatheable.) But the mask is just a vehicle for the IDEA. You have to look INSIDE to find the key to turning your mind off so you can fall asleep . . . FIRST, A FEW WORDS FROM OUR INVENTOR
Why Tim Couldn't Sleep And What He Did About It
Designing and building is my passion. I like to build original designs and that presents many challenges - encountering problems that need creative solutions. My brain never wants to stop working - that can be great because it often leads to new ideas and ways to solve problems. But, the part of me that's always thinking, is also the part of me that kept me up at night.Added to this, I had a stressful job as a geologist, supervising locations where I was on call 24 hours a day. There was never a regular sleep schedule and I could be woken up on a moment's notice and needed to be ready to work. It's not difficult to see it was the perfect equation to produce a problem sleeper.
I tried all the available "solutions" to get a natural sleep, but nothing worked for me. I studied hypnosis techniques, vitamin and mineral imbalances, bio feedback, meditation and more. It seemed to me that the key to the problem was to find a passive way to shut off thoughts and let the body relax and go to sleep.
It has been documented that looking up with the eyes closed produces a relaxing effect, generating alpha waves in the brain. I tried this but I found the effect was weak and it took concentrated effort. I began to experiment with different ways to intensify the relaxing effect with the least amount of effort. Determined to find a solution, I eventually discovered that looking up, with the eyes open, fixed on a focal point, intensified the alpha wave effect and blocked the stream of conscious thought.
The concept of the Glo to Sleep had come into focus and I started sleeping!
Of course, I wanted to see if it would work for other people. I know what it's like to try and live a full life when you don't sleep properly and I couldn't help but think how many people could benefit from what I'd created. So, we started giving it out to people we knew had sleeping problems and it worked for them too.
Almost three years of non-stop work have passed and now the Glo to Sleep is a patent pending technology that offers a working solution to a universal problem.

How the Glo to Sleep Works
For centuries, meditation has been widely used, in many cultures, to achieve a state in which no thoughts come in to mind. The technique used to achieve this, is to focus the attention, looking upwards to a point between the eyebrows - commonly known as the "third eye" or the "spiritual eye".
Scientists now understand that this act of looking up influences brain wave patterns.
Research has proven that by raising the eyes - with meditative training, practise and concentration - the "relaxed" alpha wave state can be reached.
HOW?
*The brain and eyes form a subconscious monitoring system that is working when we are awake and alert.
*This monitoring system performs an important orienting task.
*If the eyes roll up, the brain stops receiving orienting information, and an individual's level of awareness is altered.
DOES IT WORK?
That's Really What You Wanted To Know, Isn't It?
Yes.Yes, it really works.
It's as simple as putting on your Glo to Sleep, breathing deeply, and looking UP at a blue Point of Glo inside the mask. Your thoughts slow and before you know it, you are asleep.
And WHEN it works, people share their sleep success stories with us. On a daily basis, we receive e-mails from the well-rested, thanking us for the Glo to Sleep.
We affectionately refer to these people as our Glo to Sleepyheads.

What a Story!
March 22, 2006Hi Vanessa
Thanks for your note and for remembering that I had already bought a Glo to Sleep a couple of months ago. I want to share my story with you (but I'm sorry it's so long-winded!).
I spent a number of years in an orphanage and foster homes, so sometimes it was wise to sleep with one eye open. So started the sleep problems! When I was older, someone kindly gave me a new clock radio for Christmas - you know, one of those early ones where the numbers flipped (yeah, I know I'm dating myself). Anyway, that was great fun to watch - more sleep problems. Then I had 2 children - enough said about sleep.
The real issues started about 5 years ago. I was in a very bad car accident and broke 3 vertabrae in my neck and permanently flattened a portion of my spinal cord. I had surgery to repair my neck but nothing can be done about my spinal cord. Needless to say I have a great deal of pain and migraines that were preventing me from really sleeping more than 2 hours a night. I'm a light sleeper anyway but things just kept adding up. It got to the point where you kind of dread going to bed because you know you're just going to lie there and stress about not sleeping.
I saw an article about Glo To Sleep in a magazine and raced to my computer to order one. It actually arrived on my birthday which was the best present. Since January I have had the best sleep of my life. It's like I have my own personal sleep space and nothing can get in. I have recommended it to so many people, even to my Massage Therapist who said she had clients with sleep difficulties - hopefully they have ordered!
Anyway, I will never leave home without my Glo to Sleep and won't sleep another night without it. My husband kids me and says "OK, flaps down", referring to the mask, meaning it's time for me to sleep and what a great treat that is now!
Thanks so much - give Tim the biggest hug for me, you have no idea what a pleasure night time is for me now.
