Choosing a GMAT study option is one of the hardest choices you have to make. The idea is that you want a teacher to be able to handle the complexities of your preparation.

When picking a tutor, there are four things that you must take into consideration:

1. Materials - The best tutors will have their own materials and supplement those with the official guides. If you choose a prep school, make sure the teacher contributed to the manual.
2. Location - If you live in a New York or a Boston, there are hundreds of smart, capable tutors available. but if you are in a less than populated area, you may want to work with a smart tutor online,because finding a local tutor may be hard.
3. Price - Not all tutors are priced equally. You should not necessarily go to the cheapest price, however, because many tutors base their fees on value instead of hours.
4. Experience - The best tutors available will have over 5 years teaching and SAT experience. You want a teacher who has that kind of experience.
