My Review of Go Green, Live Rich - A New York Times Bestseller on Going Green (and Saving Money)

Go Green, Live Rich is an excellent introduction to going green, and how it can save you plenty of cash. Not only will your savings increase, but you'll be building wealth by following these easily outlined eco friendly tips.

The subtitle is "50 Ways to Save the Earth (and Get Rich Trying)," and the title lives up to its name. While you might not get rich per se, these tips will definitely help you cut back, which is something everyone needs to do in the current economy. Set up in an easy to read two page per chapter, picture-heavy magazine style format, you'll fly through the smart facts of this book at lightning speed, ready to implement your new green strategy.

50 Ways to Save the Earth (and Get Rich Trying

This book typically has excellent reviews from people who have read the book. My take on the book is that it's a great quick read, and an easy reference book if you're ever looking to green a certain aspect of your life and cut back. My one complaint about the book is that it is a little light on material, but the material that is in the book is gold. You'll find yourself referring back to this book whenever you need to make a small budget cut or fine tuning on your path to living a greener lifestyle. Here's what other Amazon reviewers have had to say:

Loved it! It was full of great green tips.

TheGreenerMe says:

Go Green, Live Rich is an excellent resource of green tips to save you money, while lessening your impact on the planet. The book is incredibly easy to read, you'll find yourself finishing it in under two hours. While some of the tips might be familiar territory, brand new ideas like direct green businesses and getting a green mortgage liven up the book.

Not so useful. (say why!)

Tip No. 29 from Go Green Live Rich:

Buy and sell everything. $52 billion in items were traded on eBay in 2007. People want your old stuff! Not only is it better for the environment to sell your old stuff, but to buy old stuff can save you loads of cash. Sites like Freecycle might even have it for free.

Tip No 37: Bring your Lunch to Work

Takeout food packaging is a huge waste of resources, and it's bad for you. 1.8 millions tons of trash are generated from takeout food packaging in the U.S. alone! You can save valuable resources and thousands of dollars a year by bringing your own healthy lunch (and it will probably taste better).

Ah, kaching and ringa ding dingee -- i.e., "$52 billion in items were traded on eBay in 2007." Is that absolutely HUGE?
