Ringo Starr is Promoting Peace and Love
On Thursday afternoon, Ringo Starr issued this very Ringoish statement in reaction to the news he'd been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
A Star for a Starr!
Ringo is delighted; having heard the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will be honoring him with a star in 2010 on the Walk Of Fame. Ringo said, "A star for a Starr - what an honor and a privilege it is to be walked on! Peace & Love."

Ringo was in Chicago on July 7, where he was joined by hundreds of others at Noon CT at the Hard Rock Hotel for a group expression of Peace & Love. CNN covered the Chicago gathering and other Peace & Love gatherings that day, and Ringo will be interviewed by Larry King for that evening's broadcast of "Larry King Live" on CNN. I was lucky enough to get in close by the CNN camera and get a few pictures.

Scroll down to meet the band members. You probably know them already. Everyone has seen Wayne's World, right. Two All Starrs had songs in that hit movie a few years back.
Here is a brand new video Gary Wright uploaded to his myspace page promoting the Ringo tour.

No more autographs - just Peace & Love
Ringo was good enough to sign, but jerks just pawned them off on ebay. He now says no more signing

Ringo's moratorium on signing mail was not aimed at his loyal fans, but those who would take advantage of his good will by selling his autograph on ebay. I love and respect Ringo and he did the right thing in my view. Autographs are personal mementos IMHO, not for sale, just sentimental value. I have Ringo's autograph on a t-shirt and I would never dream of selling that on ebay. I love Ringo. Rock on!
Three reasons to love Ringo
(you know there's a lot more... go ahead and add them in the guestbook)
1. Ringo is a great musician - with The Beatles, solo and with the All Starr Band, he keeps us rocking.2. Ringo is a way cool and down to earth guy. He is extremely famous, but still friendly and like everyone's best friend. (I've met Ringo..see Donahue clip).
3. Ringo has made some of the quirkiest movies ever. My favorite is Magic Christian which he starred in with Peter Sellers. The Weirdest one was Lizstomania. He was also in 200 Motels with Frank Zappa, Candy, and Caveman where he met his wife Barbara Bach (the Bond Girl in The Spy Who Loved Me.
4. Ringo is celebrating his birthday in my hometown, Chicago! Peace and Love at noon - Buckingham Fountain - July 7, 2008. Rock on Ringo!
Ringo at a Glance
Here is Ringo's bio from Wikipedia
Richard Starkey, MBE (born 7 July 1940), better known by his stage name Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer-songwriter, and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the rock group The Beatles. When the band formed in 1960, Starr belonged to another Liverpool band, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. He became The Beatles' drummer in 1962, taking over from Pete Best. In addition to his contribution as drummer, Starr featured as lead singer on a number of successful Beatles songs (in particular, "With a Little Help from My Friends" , "Yellow Submarine", "Good Night") and as songwriter with the songs "Don't Pass Me By", "Octopus's Garden", and in collaboration with the other members, the songs "What Goes On", "Flying", and "Dig It".
As drummer for The Beatles, Starr was musically creative, and his contribution to the band's music has received high praise from notable drummers in more recent times. Starr described himself as "your basic offbeat drummer with funny fills", technically limited by being a left-handed person playing a right-handed kit. Drummer Steve Smith said that Starr's popularity "brought forth a new paradigm" where "we started to see the drummer as an equal participant in the compositional aspect" and that Starr "composed unique, stylistic drum parts for The Beatles songs".
Starr is the most documented and critically acclaimed actor of The Beatles, playing the central character in several Beatles films, and has appeared in numerous other films both during and after his time with The Beatles. After The Beatles' break-up in 1970, Starr achieved commercial success with a number of solo singles and albums, and continued occasional work with each of his fellow ex-Beatles as they too developed their post-Beatles musical careers. He has also featured in a number of TV documentaries, hosted TV shows, and acted as the narrator for the children's television series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. He now tours with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band.

I have just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the Dream Weaver train
Driver take away my worries of today
And leave tomorrow behind...
Dream Weaver... I believe you can get me through the night
Dream Weaver... I believe we can reach the morning light.
Fly me high through the starry skies
Or maybe to an astral plane
Cross the highways of fantasy
Help me to forget today's pain...
Dream Weaver... I believe you can get me through the night
Dream Weaver... I believe we can reach the morning light.
Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time
Fly me away to the bright side of the moon
And meet me on the other side...
Dream Weaver... I believe you can get me through the night
Dream Weaver... I believe we can reach the morning light.

Asked what he'd like for his birthday next Monday, July 7, Ringo Starr answers, "Just more Peace & Love."
Ringo is planning a global Peace & Love movement, and he's asking for a little help from his friends!
On Monday, July 7, Ringo would like everyone - here, there and everywhere - at Noon local time wherever they are in the world, to join him in making the peace sign and saying, singing, shouting, whispering, signing, writing or quietly thinking one simply beautiful and universal message: "Peace & Love."
"Wherever you are," says Ringo Starr, "Office, home, bus, tube, sitting, standing, walking, alone or with others, doesn't matter -- at Noon on July 7 make the peace sign and think, say, shout, sing 'Peace & Love'."
Ringo will be in Chicago on July 7, where he'll be joined by others at Noon CT at the Buckingham Fountain for a group expression of Peace & Love. CNN will cover the Chicago gathering and other Peace & Love gatherings that day, and Ringo will be interviewed by Larry King for that evening's broadcast of "Larry King Live" on CNN.
Other planned gathering spots include Abbey Road Studios in London, Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik, Capitol Records in Hollywood, and Strawberry Fields in NYC's Central Park.
Please join Ringo Starr's worldwide Peace & Love movement next Monday, July 7 at Noon wherever you are!

I thought wow, that was a cool birthday wish and it kinda reminded me of John and Yoko back in the day doing their bed-in and promoting peace. I'd be at work, most likely in my cubicle and do it. Little did I know, Ringo was going to be a block from my work doing his peace and love thing too.
