Make Friends before Making Money One of the most common misconceptions of businessmen in marketing their products and services through this medium is considering social networks as just place to post their advertisements on. Contrary to popular belief, posting advertisements that look too much like advertisements are not very effective in this medium.

AWESOME INTERNET MONEY MAKING GUIDE

At least I hope you find this awesome!

Here is a list of techniques that I have found very useful. Some are better than others. I have not included eBay as one of the methods for a couple of reasons that I won't go into here, but mainly learning to make money on eBay can take considerable time and it may not be worth the effort if you can do as well or better with information marketing.

Disclaimer: The opinions on the items below are mine. I am in no way suggesting that these opinions are the be all and end all. They are based on my own personal experience of almost 4 years as of this writing. So read them with an open mind. Ultimately you will have to make your own decision as to what you want to get involved with.

In my last article I had you make a list of your interests. What I want you to do, is keep that list near you and look at it while you're reading the following descriptions. If you think any of these descriptions fits something in your list, you might want to figure out some way to integrate them. If not, don't worry because in the next article, I'm going to walk you through your list and try to give you some ideas myself. But for now, let's take a look at some common ways to make an income on the Internet.

1. Paid To Read Emails or Other Paid To Read Programs - Let's get these out of the way. This is where a company pays you a certain amount per email or ad read. Every company has different pay rates. Some are pennies per email read. Others are hundreds of dollars per email read. As I said, I am not going to knock any program here but you need to use a little common sense when it comes to these. Who is going to pay you hundreds of dollars for reading an email? Read the fine print of the contract. You will see in most cases there is a catch. If you want the whole scoop in the Paid To Read thing, there are plenty of threads on the Internet. You will find that many of these programs either shut themselves down or were shut down because they didn't pay. However, if you find a program like this that is legit, your earning potential is about a couple hundred dollars a month, if you include recruiting into the mix, which you can do. You will never get rich off of Paid To Read programs.

2. Survey Sites - These are sites that send you surveys which you take. If you qualify for the survey you can earn as much as $25 to $50 for one survey. Most surveys though are for points and discounts. If you spent a whole

Five ways webmasters benefit from social bookmarking
By David Leonhardt

If you are like most webmasters, you might not even know what
social bookmarking is, let alone how you can use it to increase
your website leads, sales, subscribers and even your repeat
visitors. Get ready to ride the next wave of Internet marketing.

Everyone knows that a bookmark is a piece of paper that marks a
page so you can find it easily again. Most people know that a
computer bookmark is a link on your computer that marks a web
page so you can find it easily again.

A social bookmark is a link that marks a web page so you can find
it easily again, but also so you can share it with others,
usually by posting it to one of several dozen social-bookmarking
websites.

Social bookmarking is all the rage these days, with websites like
Del.icio.us and Digg commanding a presence among the top traffic
generators on the Internet. People like to bookmark their
"finds" and they like to show off their "fiends" to others.
Hence bookmarking, hence social bookmarking.

Webmasters hoping to capture the attention of today's Internet
user should head the signs and recognize the phenomenal
opportunity presented by social bookmarking. In a follow-up
article, I will explain the "how-to"s, but here are five ways a
website can benefit from social bookmarking.

REPEAT VISITORS: Considering that many people do not
buy/register/contact/take action on their first visit to your
website, repeat visitors are a necessity (not to mention laser-
targeted prospects!) You can get more repeat visitors to your
website if they can find your website again. That means getting
them to bookmark your website, either on their computer or on the
social bookmarking site of their choice. The more bookmarking
options you offer, the more visitors are likely to return. The
easier you make it for them to bookmark your site, the more of
them will. However, you really must have quality content, or
nobody will want to bookmark your page.

VIRAL BOOKMARKING: When somebody bookmarks your website on their
own computer, they share it with, well, themselves. It's a
private thing. But when they bookmark a web page on a social
bookmarking, it's more "social". Other people will see it.
Other people might share it. Other people might even bookmark
it. Websites like Del.icio.us, Ma.gnolia and SpicyPage are ideal
for this. In fact, many of the biggest users of a social
bookmark website are often users of several. However, you really
must have quality content, or nobody will care that somebody else
has bookmarked your page.

VIRAL LINKING: When somebody sees your link at a social
bookmarking website, they might bookmark it...or they might add
it to their own blog or portal or fan site. Suddenly one
person's bookmark becomes several links to your website,
presumably from reasonably well-targeted sources of traffic.
However, you really must have quality content, or nobody will
want to blog somebody else's bookmark.

SEO-FRIENDLY LINKS: Many of the social bookmarking websites offer
no direct SEO value. The links might feature the NoFollow
attribute. Or the mea robots tag might be set to NoFollow. Or
your bookmarks might not show on unique URLs. Os the links might
use a redirect script that search engine spiders don't follow.
But there are some social bookmarking websites that offer SEO-
friendly links.

SEO-FRIENDLY LINKS ELSEWHERE: Even if a link from a social
bookmarking website is not SEO-friendly, don't underestimate its
SEO potential. There is a whole industry growing just to game
Digg and Del.icio.us, knowing that if a website's bookmark can
stick on the home page for an hour or two, it will mean dozens or
even hundreds of inbound links from reasonably relevant blogs and
portals and fan sites. And this is natural linking, the kind
that search engines love! However, you really must have quality
content, or whose going to post a link to your website just
because they found it bookmarked?

tart your journey by setting up your BLOG. Learn as much about maintaining your blog as possible. Then hook up your blog to the Technoratie website. You can set it up so that every time you make a new post (daily is good) it will also be posted at Technoratie where many other people will see it and, hopefully, read it.

I do recommend getting your own DOMAIN NAME and WEBSITE. However, marketing through social networks like Squidoo and many other sites does not take nearly as long to be successful as starting a new website and waiting for the search engines to catch up with it - this can take months and lately with Google, it can take at least a year to see any traffic.

That's the core factor of online marketing, isn't it? TARGETED TRAFFIC. You could use Google Adwords and make money. If you've done that you also know that takes a ton of learning too and that can get very expensive.

I believe it would be wise for you to tackle the social networking concept instead of going the search engine route since you do not have to pay money to get your marketing program in gear (but remember that your time is money too).

I will continue to update this site daily. I will be introducing tips to help you along the road. Bur first you need to learn the basics. The first steps would be:

1. Set up your BLOG (Blogger or WordPress are good choices - many other also exist and most of them are free)

2. Set up an account at Technorati to spread the word about your blogging acctivities.

3. Learn about Tag and Ping. I will set up another Squidoo site on that topic in the near future and I'll put the link here.
4. Try to put something in your blog every day. Some say you can do it three times a week or weekly, but I recommend a daily routine. You will learn more quickly about what works and what does not.

5. Pick out at least two other Squidoo type sites and get accounts in them. I do NOT recommend MySpace even though it may

eb 2.0 will get you networking, learning, link swapping and forging alliances with millions of website owners and future customers. Join as many groups as you have time for, but then choose one or two where you see an opportunity to really get to know people on a deeper level (professionally), and then participate regularly in those places.

When you feel confident enough, start your own network. Social Networking - Are You A Part Of It Yet?

by John Cowan

The past couple of years have seen an explosion of sites that are known as Community or Social Networking websites. These sites are intrinsically involved in the rapid development of the Web 2.0 phenomena, hence our interest in them.

No doubt, if you are familiar with Social Networking sites, and have perhaps used them before, you will already be fully aware of their levels of popularity and the reason for such popularity.

There is just something about these websites that draw in millions of Internet users.

So, what exactly is a Social Networking site?

Well, as with the majority of the sites themselves, the explanation or definition of what a Social Networking website is, is extremely simple.

It is a site that you (generally) sign up for as a member, where you can 'meet' other individuals from all four corners of the globe, who share an interest in whatever the basic 'theme' or 'topic' of the site is.

It is a site that allows you to interact with anyone and everyone who is online, and who shares your interest in almost anything!

Most of these sites require only the most basic knowledge of a PC and the Internet to work with as well. This simplicity hugely enhances their accessibility, as there is no 'techno-babble' in the way of joining in.

In addition to being easy to navigate, the best social networking websites also make it so much easier to make new friends online, by ensuring that the people who are site members are of a like mind, with matching interests.

This may, to a certain extent, sound similar to the old 'chat rooms' that use to proliferate all over the net, and to some degree, that is true.

The main difference is that Social Networking sites encourage members to create detailed online profiles that will allow anyone looking for online 'friends to have a pretty good idea of the person that they are considering communicating with, before they do so.

Another possible reason why Social Networking sites are popular is because the majority are free to use, although most will require you to register before you can become involved.

This, however, should not be a concern, as it is done to prevent abuse of the networking 'community' and to reduce the risk (e.g. of Spam) to individual members. Some sites, on the other hand, require a small Membership fee, although the majority that do allow some kind of free trial period, so that you can accurately gauge whether membership of that particular site is for you, or not.

Now, many people will not

2. SOCIAL BOOK MARKING %u2013 PART 1

by John Cowan

Social book marking is a rather new concept in a sense that it is first starting to gain popularity as a form of Internet marketing. But the truth is, social book marking has been around for a very long time, long before people really thought about making a living on the Internet.

I remember back in my early days of surfing the Internet, I would look for the strangest things. One of my hobbies was looking up old and rare TV shows, like the old Planet Patrol puppet show from the early 60s. Remember that? I do very well. As I got older and realized that I'd never see these puppet shows ever again, I started to look for any sites that would have these shows.

Guess what I found?

Social book marking is what I found. That's right. On one page that discussed this show I found a ton of suggested sites for related shows, such as Supercar. Remember that one? It was another puppet show from the early 60s. On that page was a ton of suggested shows. I never realized how many puppet shows there were back then. It must have been a real craze, though I would have never known having only watched the two I mentioned.

The point is, here were all these people sharing their bookmarks for all these puppet show sites. This was long before the term came into vogue.

Today, there are tons of sites out there that are designated as social book marking sites. Just go to Google and do a search under that term and you will find them all. As a matter of fact, if you do that Google search, you will find almost 1.5 million of these sites or references to them. If you had done this search 2 years ago you probably wouldn't have found any.

Now there is one thing you have to understand about social book marking sites. They are very strict, at least most of them, with what you can put there. If the link you share is not directly related to the topic of that site, it will be removed. For example, Digg, which is one of the more popular sites with a PR of 7, is a technological site. The thing about Digg is that whatever gets submitted is reviewed by the users and not the editor of the site. It's the users who decide whether or not something gets included. So as you can imagine, this can be quite a cutthroat business and can get quite ugly. So if you submit a link, make sure it's one that absolutely fits with the topic of the site.

In the next installment of social book marking, we'll go over some more of the most popular sites and how they operate. You'll find that each one has its little
