9 Steps To Define Your Goal Setting

This is an article I found about smart goal setting which I would like to share with m readers

As this lens is about smart goal setting I would like to share this article with you. It sums the principles of goal setting up very clearly and does not forget the human factor.

And as the article ist written by a working-at-home-woman , Katie-Anne Gustafsson, I favour it even more as I dedicated a lens to the WAHW topic.

Take notes and enjoy reading.

Smart Goal Setting - the most important item for your personal life and for your business

Forget about your goals

A many times heard quotation of Mark Hughes (Founder of Herbalife) is that "Your Success Is Only Limited By Your Imagination". Powerful.

But what comes next ? GOAL SETTING. A goal setting strategy, separated in short term, medium term and long term smart goals. You have to write your goal setting work down, of course.

1. No goals, no success.
2. Few, badly defined goals, little success.
3. More clearly defined goals, clear success.
4. Detailed goals with clear milestones, 100% success, money and happiness
.

So far, so good and not easy to achieve.

DID YOU EVER HEAR ENYBODY RECOMMEND YOU TO FORGET ABOUT YOUR GOALS ?

I did, and therefore I want to share it with my readers.

As I have a subscription to the Renegade University's Newsletter, some days ago I opened my e-mail and I saw the title of my weekly newsletter: "Ellen, FORGET ABOUT YOUR GOALS".

Of course, having received the direct marketing training I received in a network marketing company about short, medium, long term detailed smart goal setting, I immediately opened my newsletter beginning to think revolutionary thoughts about having success without having to make the daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, lifelong "goal-achieving-effort".

(By the way, here you can see the magic of writing good titles).

Calm down and take a deep breath: What Ann Sieg was talking about in her newsletter was a trick of the mind, known to us all but made little use of.

Think of something you have decided to save money for and to buy soon: A yellow dress, a house with a nice little garden, a red car, whatever. You will start seeing this things everywhere. You will be surprised how many yellow dresses, red cars or houses with nice little gardens you will see during one day.

Why does this happen ? Because you converted a mere wish in a decision to act. You planned it consciously. You set your mind on your goal and you knew exactly what your goal was and how to achieve it. You focussed your mind and your efforts on your goal and acted in consequence.

That is good - if you know how to act in consequence.

What impressed me about this newsletter I received was that it did not end here.

Motivation trainings teach to convert an idea into action, stay focussed, identify and imagine yourself staying in your nice little garden, wearing a yellow dress and having parked your new red car in the entrance of your garage of your nice little house and your "dream will come true".

I always said that this smart goal setting strategy is questionable for a person with common sense.

And well, we will have to define this because "How do you get from the idea of having a new something to really have it" ?

The answer is a DETAILED WRITTEN GOAL SETTING PROCESS, the more detailed, the better.

Because the more reasonable details you write down, the clearer become the steps you have to take and to focus on in order to achieve your goal.

You will have to concentrate your efforts on reaching each milestone of your goal setting plan in a way that the day you go and buy your yellow dress will appear to you like a dream coming true.

And this is as easy as it can get.
