God of War III

In the original God of War, Kratos, a Spartan, takes on Ares. Kratos is an anti-hero with a dark past, who has spent quite some time in service to the gods, sometimes to his loss. Through the events of the game, he earns forgiveness for the past, but that does not include the ability to forget it. The chapter closes with him ascending to godhood.

In God of War 2, as God of War he favors the Spartans and avoids the other gods, to their annoyance. Tensions build into a battle between gods, with Zeus determined not to allow Kratos to hold power.

Betrayal and Chains of Olympus are prequels, with the first covering the time frame between chapters 1 and 2, setting up the war between the gods, and the second preceding the series by ten years, when Kratos was still in service to the gods.

Which brings us to the exciting new installment:

In God of War III, Kratos once again takes on the gods and creatures of Hades and Olympus, seeking his revenge. Armed with his double-chained blades, and able to utilize many new weapons, Kratos must carve his way through entire armies while navigating on the back of Titans.

Gameplay includes brutal combat, intricate puzzles, and detailed and unique 3D worlds with areas up to 4 times larger than those found in God of War II. The Titans themselves are said to be "living, moving, breathing levels as tall as the Empire State Building." All in a compelling, mythologically-inspired storyline.
