Goddess Moon

This lens is about honoring the Goddess within. I hope to fill this lens with information that will help you to realize that each and every one of you are sacred and hold a divine force within you that fills you with strength, courage and beauty.

This picture is one of the Moon Flowers that I grew and I grow every year-in honor of the Moon Goddess. Their smell is so beautiful that I cannot describe it-its scent is enchanting and magickal in every aspect of the words.

The MoonFlower only blooms One Time on One Night. To me, it is a reminder of exactly how much beauty and uniqueness there is in this special thing we call Life! When you grow the moonflowers, their seeds are very hard and are best soaked in distilled water for 24-48 hours before planting them. Then it takes about 21 days to germinate, and the plant will begin to blossom in the late summer. It is worth ever bit of the work it takes to grow these beautiful flowers. To be able to smell one flower, one night is worth every second. The vines produce many flowers, but they only last one night.

The Magick in Moonflowers

Ellen Dugan says in one of her books that moonflowers-Are haunting and downright enchanting. On an interesting note, moonflowers will attract both hawk moths and luna moths to your garden.

Magickal Bath Salts

When I owned my first herb business called EarthCrafts, I use to make a wide range of herbal products that were focused around the "Rush Syndrome" that has infected most of todays world. Everybody is always rushing around and always feel they do not have enough time in a day to do everything they think they need to do. I am firm believer that Everyone must learn to honor the Divine Within by slowing down and taking at least 15 minutes for yourself.

I use to make a lot of Bath Salts and at one time it was my biggest seller next to my soaps. I am going to share the recipe with you in a moment. I choose to discontinue making them because at that time I had my own shop and I had several accounts that I had on consignment. Today I run my business from my home and to mail a jar of salts is just not feasible. The scents that I used were all focused around the Goddess aspect of life. By honoring the divine within, is the same as loving and respecting yourself as the wonderful woman you are!

I have to tell you, I love these bath salts and I have used them in the shower on a washcloth to gently exfoliate my skin. The aromatherapy effects of the scents I used were unbelievable for me. I have a lot of customers who miss my bath salts but here is the recipe so now you can always have them. They keep great in a container with a tight fitting lid and make sure to keep them out of direct sunlight.

Basic Bath Salt with Bubbles

12 oz. Baking Soda
8 oz. Sea Salt
2 oz. Borax (found in the laundry detergent section)
A total of 2 ½ droppers of essential oils
1 cup of powder Mr. Bubbles

Add one tablespoon of Vit. E oil, and mix all of the ingredients together. One of my favorite essential oil combinations uses to be a mixture that I called Lovers Blend. You would use a 1/2 of a dropper of each of these oils: Geranium, palmarosa, Neroli, rose and ylang-ylang.

My Animal Totems

Artemis

Artemis-Moon Goddess

I was first introduced to Artemis in the early ninety's. At that time I was working with clay and firing it the old way in the ground. I was told that some Native American Tribes would fire smudge pots and containers this way. I dug a pretty deep hole in the ground, and built a fire. I placed a metal grid over the fire and put my clay pieces on that. I covered the hole for a long time and let the clay cook. At that time, I was only making small smudge bowls and ruin type necklaces.
A friend of mine, who was a wonderful healer, loved Artemis and asked if I could make her a ruin necklace with Artemis on it. So I sketched a figure of Artemis on a small piece of clay with a tooth pick and fired it. Of course the image was only a symbolic representation of Artemis but that is how Artemis entered my life.

Artemis is one of the principle Goddesses of Greek mythologies. She is the Goddess of hunting and wild animals, especially bears. She is also known as the Goddess of childbirth, of nature and of the harvest.

Artemis was a virgin huntress, sometimes referred to as the Huntress of Souls. She protected the wild places and animals. Violence for itself was detested by Artemis, yet she was swift to deal out punishment to offenders, especially those who threatened women.

Artemis' bow is symbolic of the crescent moon as well as the inner self-esteem. She is well known as the Protector of young girls, mistress of magick, sorcery, enchantment, psychic power, women's fertility, purification, the hunt, wild animals, mountains, and woodland medicines and healing.

Artemis' Familiars and Animal Totems are: wild animals, dog, stage, hawk, horse, cats, wolves, antelope, bear, bull, deer, goat and unicorn.

This book is good! Ellen Dugan has a way to make you want to rush right out and get all kinds of flowers and plant them around your house right now, not later! She has a lot of crafts in this book that would be fun to do with young ones. I use this book often, not as much as some others I have. It is a good book!
