The Godfather Part 1

The Godfather is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Mario Puzo, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. The film's story spans ten years from late 1945 to 1955.

This movie is universally regarded as the definitive Mafia film. It is consistently ranked amongst the finest movies of all time and has repeatedly been voted as the greatest movie ever made by users at the Internet Movie Database Top 250 Movies of All Time.

The Godfather Part 2

The Godfather, Part II is the sequel to The Godfather, released in 1974. The film follows the original Godfather film by alternating the story of a young Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro), with his son Michael's (Al Pacino) rise to control the Mob in Las Vegas. The film also stars Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Michael V. Gazzo, John Cazale, Talia Shire and Lee Strasberg. Many critics consider the sequel to be equal to (if not superior to) the original film in quality.

The film was written by Francis Ford Coppola from the original work by Mario Puzo, and was directed by Coppola.

The Godfather Part 3

The Godfather, Part III (1990) is the third film in the Godfather trilogy. It completes the story of Michael Corleone, a Mafia godfather who tries to legitimize his crime empire. The plot also weaves into its plot a fictionalized account of real life events--the mysterious 1978 death of Pope John Paul I and the Papal banking scandal of 1981-1982--and links them with each other and with the affairs of Michael Corleone. The film stars Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy Garcia, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, George Hamilton, Bridget Fonda, and Sofia Coppola.

The movie was written by Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola, and directed by Coppola.

Unlike its predecessors, Godfathers Part I and II, Godfather Part III was not as widely critically acclaimed on release, and critics and fans remain divided on its legacy to this day.

The Godfather: The Game

By EA

The Godfather: The Game is a video game based on Mario Puzo's novel and the 1972 film of the same name.

The game is notable in that it features the return of several original actors from the film doing original voice acting. The actors involved include the late Marlon Brando (as Don Vito Corleone), James Caan (as Sonny Corleone), Robert Duvall (as Tom Hagen) and Abe Vigoda (as Sal Tessio). Al Pacino refused to reprise the role of Michael Corleone. In addition, Mark Winegardner, author of the novel Godfather Returns, is providing story editing and insight into the fictional world of the Godfather.

Since the project's very beginning, many gamers assumed that the game would follow the film in the footsteps of the lead role, Michael Corleone. Instead, Electronic Arts chose a different path. It was announced in 2005 that players would create a mobster of their own, customizing their character's physical features in a very in-depth program known as "MobFace" (even though you can customize the character's build and attire as well). Also, the game would not be the traditional mission-style type but a sandbox game, in a huge free-roam world "with memory", and nonlinear gameplay (similar to games in the Grand Theft Auto franchise). Electronic Arts has also created the "Black Hand" control system as a means of pressuring and extorting business owners. Using the control sticks on the game controller, the player has a wide range of available methods to achieve their goals. These methods include, but are not limited to punching, kicking, headbutting, strangling, etc. The "Black Hand" control system is a modified version of the fighting platform for EA's "Fight Night" series.
