It's time to fly! Yes, it's true....the founding class of Squid Angel's has flown away home to hang up our Squid Angel wings. The baton has been passed to the next class of Angels who will be seeking to discover the best lenses in every category at Squidoo!

My year as a Squid Angel was a marvelous adventure that has changed my life forever! My heartfelt thanks to the entire community at Squidoo for the indelible memories that have been etched on my heart!

It's an Angel's pleasure to be able to hand out 5 stars, add your lenses to My Favorites, and a hearty Woot! Woot! to lenses with great content.

I've made lifelong friends, and learned more than I could ever share with you! The question is then...What's next for a retired Squid Angel?

Well, for this crafty Angel... it's time to focus on some of the many passions that I share with you at Squidoo.
I'll be crafting away, creating some new craft projects to keep you and your kids busy with crafty projects and ideas for every season of the year!

What's that? Oh, yes... there will be crafty ideas and plans for grown ups too! After all, we can't let the kids have all the fun!

Becoming a Squid Angel is a privilege which I really enjoyed. I learned a lot about lens building during my tenture as a Squid Angel. One of the most important tips I can share with you is to follow in the footsteps of those who are already accomplishing what it is that you want to accomplish.

What Does This Angel Look For in a Lens?

The page you are reading is called a "Lens"...

Squidoo has created the basic structure, allowing us to decide which "modules" we want to use in our lens, then fill it with our personalized content...

The pages are uniform...things like the orange header, each frame contains basic information and the tools you need to create and edit your content...

Like a tool box....everyone gets the same tools; you just have to decide how many of them you choose to master!

A Squid Angel's "job" is to evaluate lenses based on how effectively the creator has used the tools at their disposal...

Did you create an informative, engaging lens about your topic...

Did you give the who, what, where, when and why's?
Did you provide contact information?
Is your lens interactive?
(for instance; email, guestbook)
Does your lens make people want to know more about you, support your cause; or click out to your resources and make purchases?
Did your audience find your work compelling enough to coax them to your website?

Those are the criteria that determine a great lens!

In the spirit of the Sears catalog; Squidoo allows us, as Lens Masters... to become the editors of the world wide web!

Catalogs have a definite format, the kids know just where to find the toys; Mom can choose to browse the household supplies...or pamper herself with some quiet shopping time in the ladies lingerie section...

and Dad knows just what page to turn to for a new set of golf clubs!

Information Overload

Just imagine the Sunday newspaper laying in a heap on the floor....brightly colored ads, filled with great merchandise and coupons...

But the chaos of so many pages makes it a very time consuming task to find the ads that are applicable to what you are searching for!

I was a newbie in October, 2006...



As I worked my way through the wonders of lens building, these were some of the names and lenses that I kept coming across.



I have included a list of some of the lenses I still use on a regular basis, and some that have been the most helpful to me in understanding Squidoo, and how to best utilize the wealth of information that is available.



I hope it will help you too! We can all work together to complete the task of sifting, sorting and "organizing" the web!

So, who's your audience? No matter who it is; blogging is an excellent resource to keep them posted about updates and announcements within your area of expertise.

In my case, it's all about crafting!

My specialty is crafts for those who teach Bible lessons. I research games and toys as well, but crafting is my passion!

Since there are so many Holy Days and Holidays, blogging is a great way for me to keep my audience informed of info that needs to be shared before the next complete newsletter!

I have discovered that blogging is also a great way for me share fresh tidbits of info, without having to change and update my website!
