These orientations for parents often require fees and include seminars. "Helicopter parents," as a recent edition of the Tennessean referred to hovering moms and dads, might enjoy seminars intended to help them let go of their children as "back to school" takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to college. Parents sending their first-born off to college or experiencing "empty nest syndrome" after the youngest son or daughter leaves might have an especially difficult time when colleges and universities open their doors to students for the semester.
