Why Go Green? The Numbers
1. 1 pound per hour: The amount of carbon dioxide that is saved from entering the atmosphere for every kilowatt hour of energy produced by renewable energy.
2. Only 35% of coal's energy is actually converted to electricity in a coal fired power plant. The rest is lost to heat.
3. By the year 2013, 36 states will have local, regional, or statewide water shortages.
4. 1.5 acres of rain forest is lost every second to land development and deforestation.
5. Each year a woman who uses cosmetics absorbs 4 pounds of chemicals into her body.

7. By recycling one aluminum can, 95 % of the energy is saved versus making that can from new materials.
8. 113,204 on average, of aluminum cans are recycled each minute of each day
9. A TV can run 3 hours on the energy saved by recycling one aluminum can.
10. 40% of energy is saved by recycling newspapers over producing them from virgin materials.
