Fantastic green living tips... in my country some big malls are switching to green/eco-friendly shopping bags already.

I love how you get to the point (esp. about plastic bags) in this lens. Whenever people are given the truth it moves them towards change...certainly a gift of yours AJ! Going green tips I have, well, maybe conserving water and recycling like crazy (but I am sure I could be doing so much more). Thank you for an informative and educational lens. Sincerely, Rose

Great lens on helping people go green. I agree, it's a good idea to start simple and gradually expand if not it can get overwhelming with all the media attention and pressure. One of the problems to keep in mind when using canvas bags is to make sure to disinfect them for harmful bacteria which can cause and spread disease. **Blessed by a Squid-Angel**

I must admit that canvas bags are the best invention since automobiles. I'm real fond of solar energy and fire. A nice green ideas lens AJ.

AJ - these are wonderful ideas! I have a couple canvas bags for groceries, but my problem is that I carry them into the house then forget to take them back out to the car! I promise I'll keep working on remembering! : )

This is a NEW comment, because I don't think I've been here before :-). Very interesting green ideas. I've known for years that plastic bags were 'not good' -- for the environment and for 'just in general', but I had NO idea about the statistics you included about this -- use an average of 12 minutes each, then it takes hundreds of years to decompose. Now THAT is an 'awakening'. I see more and more people using canvas bags at the grocery stores, so I guess the message is getting through.

I recycle and use canvas bags and so does my extended family. Other ideas I didn't know or realize about and I thank you for this lens, these great resources and links, and for helping us all become more aware of how we can positively affect our planet. Well done.

I am glad you included the tote to save on using plastic shopping bags. I have noticed that grocery shoppers in Southern California have not warmed up to that idea.

ps Thanks for the mention in your blog about the compost lens.
