How to stop going red in the face!
Do you go red in the face in any social situation? Does your skin light up whenever you have to speak in public or do a presentation? There are two things to remember:
- A lot of people have this issue
- You can learn to control it (to an extent)
A cyclical thing
Stress causes redness, which causes you to be embarrassed
There are two ways to break the cycle:
- Get rid or reduce the stress (by reminding yourself that redness isn't that big a deal, for instance) or following some of the other tips on this page
- Prevent the redness if you can't prevent the stress: use a make up or green foundation to make sure whatever redness your skin shows, people don't get to see it.
There is NO reason to be embarrassed: a lot of people have this problem.
Dealing with stress
How to stop face from turning red
- Look at your life: where is the stress coming from, would it work to just minimize dealing with those things that cause you most stress?
- The opposite might work as well: face your fears. Take a public speaking class for instance. Facing your fears is the only way to get over them
- Make sure you relax and laugh enough. Meditation, yoga and Tai Chi can help too
- Learn to not care so much about what other people say or think. As long as you do the best you can, you can't expect any more - nor can they
- Physical exercise, working in the garden, taking a walk. These help relieve tension.
- Alcohol, caffeine, sugar, fats and tobacco should be avoided.
- Find people to talk to: a counselor or self help group, or just a friend
- Help others: volunteering is a very good way to start feeling better about yourself and get a more balanced life
- Get organized: plan your activities so they don't overwhelm you.
- Don't be too competitive. You are fine just where you are

How to stop going red
The redness in your face will get less as you get better used to speaking in public or dealing with people. Your self confidence levels will go up, especially if you remind yourself that other people's opinions aren't that big a deal.
Going red in the ...
Face, neck...
There is no medicine to make your face less red, but there are creams out there. I personally recommend the Eucerin Redness Relief line. It has helped me keep the redness on my face down - to the extent that recently a friend told me to get blush :)
Eucerin Redness Relief
Other products I've used often caused acne. Since using this product I've not had that problem any more.
Getting rid of redness in the face
Are you afraid of going red on your wedding, or is redness a permanent feature of your face? The following two lenses can help you solve those issues.-
Green camouflage makeup to get rid of red skin
-
You could just camouflage of course, but it's even better to use a product (or product line) that doesn't just camouflage, but also cures the redness. I've used this product and it really works. See the before (top) and after (bottom) on the left. T...

- I think it's great how many people are posting in response to this article. It never even occurred to me that other people might feel the exact same way about going red as I do, especially people my age. I'm 22. I understand why I go red, I am afraid I'll give a wrong answer in class, say something uncool to a new person I meet or what they might think about me and I avoid any new people I do meet because I don't feel good enough. It's gotten to the point where I hate going to school and have thought about not coming back several times. I realize it's all in my head, but I can't help it. Maybe a councilor would help...

- BTW - for those of you who are saying this is making you even more shy, avoiding people etc. Please do look for help. A counselor or something. Surely going red isn't as important as being able to buy groceries and have a conversation.

- Hi Luke. The tips on this lens should help you a bit. Other than that - it sounds like for you it's part of your teenage problems. Nobody goes through puberty very happy. In other words: however hard this is, it will probably get less.

- Hi Anna, I totally sympathize.
Just wanted to add that these products DO NOT contribute to zits. In fact, for me, they help cure them.

It has also only started happening to me recently, since finishing uni. People only have to call my name and I go a horrid red. Its horrible, it has completely knocked my confidence. Its nice to know Im not the only one with this problem. I wish there was an easier solution. I dont really like using products on my face because of spots :( however I think Id rather spots. Im 21 by the way. After reading Stuarts post, Im worried it might never go away.

Idk why and it happens when i talk to guys. I dont want to talk during class or volenteer cuz it turns red. People tell me all the time "your face is turning red!" and it turns even more red. I hate it and dont kno how to get rid of it. is it ever going to go away? and i dont wear make-up.
