The Goji Berry - Little known secrets

Goji is a fruit with extraordinary healing properties that most Americans don't know about. For over 2,000 years in other countries Goji has been used to cure ailments. Like other botanicals, Goji, has proven to improve many health conditions.

Pronounced "Go-gee", they are said to contain more vitamin C than oranges, more beta-carotene then carrots, and  more iron than steak.

Goji Berries have played a central role in Chinese medicine for thousands of years, but it was not until recently that scientists discovered what was in the Goji Berry that gave it the nutritional benefits.

Ancient Goji Story

Well covered in Goji Berries

I came across a rather interesting story while working on gathering content for this lens. What I found was a story about Goji from a Buddist temple around 800 AD.

The story tells of a well at the temple covered by Goji vines. Individuals who regularly prayed at and drank from this well had good health, and even at the age of eighty had no white hair and lost no teeth.

Nothing terribly dramatic, I know, but it does demonstrate the point that Goji berries do have healthy properties.

Tibetan Goji Berry

Not to be mistaken with Wolfberries.

There are over 40 different varieties of the Goji Berry found throughout the world.

The Himalayan or Tibetan berry is noted for purity and grown in ancient soils free of pollutants or pesticides.

Don't mistake Tibetan Goji Berry with Chinese Wolfberry which can be loaded with pesticides and can be highly sulfured and irradiated.

Experts consider the Tibetan berry to be the most potent on the planet.
