Moist Von Lipwig's Golden Suit and Other Shiny Gold Clothing!

The film of Terry Pratchett's Discworld book, Going Postal, is currently only available as a UK import (it was produced by SkyOne) but is being released worldwide September 30th!

It is a far better adaptation in many respects than the previous attempts (due to the story being more straight forward and containing fewer hard-to-film fantastical elements). It's a two part film, and the second half is much, much better than the first half.

Moist Von Lipwig (translating to "Moist of the false moustache") is a conman who's run out of gullible people. Or rather, he's run out of the freedom to get to them. And along with his freedom, he's run out of lifespan. Sentenced to death under one alibi by the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork, but given a second chance to return under another name,

Moist (it's no wonder he went by alibis!) has to get the decrepit Post Office back on its feet, dodge his unstoppable parole officer, court the dangerous Adora Belle Dearheart (a sexy golem activist out to live down her adorably dear, sweet name) and beat the forces of capitalism in the form of the corrupt showmanistic business man, Reacher Gilt, out to make a killing in the communications business. Along the way, he invents postage stamps and has to deal with the consciousness of the collective undelivered letters, heaped in the Post Office, screaming in his mind.

And along the way, he uses his knowledge of manipulating people to acquire a shiny golden suit to match the gold winged hat that comes with the post of Postmaster General, and becomes a living symbol. (Uh... this being Ankh-Morpork, it's gold paint - any real gold would be stolen before it had time to get dirty). To his horror, the suit makes him instantly recognisable - but, like and good superhero, all he has to do is change out of it to pass completely unnoticed.

Return To Sender by Elvis Presley (the other man in a golden suit, fittingly) about a man who keeps posting a letter to his beloved after a fight, but she keeps sending it back. This isn't part of the film, Going Postal, it's a parody/music video created by the actors.
