What is the Karat?

The Karat (or Carat)  is a unit exclusively used for measuring the mixture of gold with other base metal.  Pure gold is 24Karat, 18K gold constitutes of 18 parts of pure gold and it will be mixed with 6 parts of other material. In other words, 18K gold is 75% pure gold. 18K gold will be stronger than 24K gold.
