Golden Retrievers In The Movies

Homeward Bound is a movie about the adventures of 3 pets, an older Golden Retriever, a young Bulldog, and a Himalayan cat who strike out in search of their home and family. Their incredible journey takes them across the Sierra Mountains and is filled with danger, laughter, loyalty and fun. This is a wonderful feel good movie that had me laughing and crying and on the edge of my chair to see if they all made it through the long journey...it is definitely one of my all time favorite dog movies!
While I don't consider the sequel to be as good, it is still an entertaining movie and they come together here on one DVD.

They first met as children and were best friends, years later when they are all grown up a golden retriever brings them together again. I really enjoyed this holiday movie, it has romance and humor, beautiful scenery, a gorgeous retriever and even some adorable puppies; there is also a bit of a mystery as to how this same retriever appears in their lives first when they are children and then 20 years later.
This is truly a holiday treat for everyone!

Fluke is filled with humor, regret, revenge, love and mystery. It's a story of a man that is reincarnated as a dog but remembers enough of his human life to know that his family is in danger and in need of protection. He searches for his family as he searches his memory to recall the truth about his death. I found it to be a heartwarming story full of suspense and surprises, I highly recommend it!
FYI-In case you are wondering, the dog in the movie really is a Golden Retriever. He is the same dog that was in the TV show Full House only he was dyed and clipped to have a scruffier appearance.

The Retrievers is about a family that find a stray golden and are then "adopted" by the golden. The family becomes attached to the dog only to find out that she is pregnant. Family values are tested when the puppies arrive and they first decide to give them up and later go on a quest to retrieve them. This is a good family movie and is especially great if you love watching puppies!

This family movie set in 1950's rural America and based on a true story, is about a boy whose Uncle presses sheep killing charges against his dog Drum who is his best friend in the world. This starts not only a family legal feud but community discord as their town begins to take sides. Scott Bakula plays a city lawyer who comes to represent Old Drum in the trial as the boy Charlie goes on a mission to find evidence that will save his dog's life.This is a sweet, sentimental movie that people of all ages will enjoy!

Air Bud is the story of a lonely boy who has recently lost his dad, and an abused dog that has escaped from his cruel owner. The two meet, bond, and become basketball playing buddies, first in private and later on the school basketball team. As the story unfolds you see the importance each plays in the other's life and how they fight to stay together. This is an inspiring movie and you get to see a dog playing basketball, what could be more fun?!
