Golden Retrievers Are Almost Human

We've added a new member to our family. Mia was born 9 weeks ago and she is a bundle of fur and love. Our kids love playing with and taking care of our new family member. This is their first "big" pet, besides their Guinea Pig, Squirrelly,
and it is teaching them responsibility in a "big" way.

Friends of ours raise Golden Retrievers and we fell in love when we saw their litter of 11 puppies! Their training ideas were unlike we had ever seen and
their knowledge of the breed was empowering.

Mia is a bundle of energy and loves to play. When she is tuckered out she flops down on the cool tile floor or over the air conditioning vent, and takes a snooze.

She is alert, smart and potty trained. 

If you are looking for a smart new puppy, keep the Golden Retriever at the top of your list. If you have children, you can't go wrong.

Buy your puppy from a reputable breeder and check out the mom and dad of your puppy.  Take some time to watch the way they act with your children.

Ask questions!

Know the history of vaccinations and food they have been receiving.

I highly recommend crate training at the beginning to give your new family
member a place of quiet and solitude when they need to rest or to take a break.
At night, cover the front of the crate with a towel so they know that
now is a time of rest, so you can get your rest.

Buy plenty of chew toys (2 liter pop bottles work great as well),
a shallow pool for water time, a gentle leash headcollar for leash training and safety. Train your dog the right way without the dog pulling you around.
And get ready for fun, smiles and love as you welcome your new family member.
