Who are the Golden Knights?

The Golden Knights Are The World's Best Parachute Team The Golden Knights have been performing for 50 years this year. The Strategic Army Corps Parachute Team was formed in 1959 by Gen. Joseph Stillwell. On June 1, 1961, the Army officially recognized, redesigned and activated the team as the United States Army Parachute Team. After just one year they were nicknamed the Golden Knights because of their winning record of gold medals. The Golden Knights Team Mission: (1) To perform live aerial demonstrations for the public and in promotion of the Army's public relations and recruitment efforts; (2) to compete in national and international parachuting competitions; and (3) to test and evaluate new parachuting equipment and techniques for improved operation and safety. So not only are they so neat to watch, they also serve a great purpose. While reaching speeds of over 120 miles an hour they still manage to land dead center on the target.     Great lens. I made my first parachute jump when I was 17. That was in 2003. My first jump was a tandem jump with an experienced parachutist.

    great lens... 5*... I love the Golden Knights, I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the guys appearing in our Air shows over the years and collected many old posters.
