Golden Retriever Dogs - How to care for and train your golden retriever puppy

Here are some ideas and resources to help you care for your Golden Retriever puppy

The resources cover care and nutrition and training for your Golden Retriever

We had two golden retrievers both female - Bindy and Cindy - so I have had twenty years experience with Golden Retrievers.  There are few breeds of dogs that are as intelligent, companionable and warm as Retrievers.

I only wish that the resources that are available today were around when our Golden Retrievers were puppies.

Golden Retrievers can be mischevious and downright embarrassing if they are not trained properly.

Fortunately, there are many resources available now to help you out.

One that stands out becuase of its proven track record is Dean Rankin's Golden Retriever Training Tips

Golden Retriever - everbody's friend

A sad tale about a Burmese Cat and a Golden Retriever

chocoalte burmeseThe day the Chocolate Burmese kitten (Monica) arrived in our household was a battle from the start. Alpha dog - young Golden Retriever (Cindy) - thought she was Mistress of the house and snarled at the tiny kitten through the screen door. Monica tolerated this for a while, then backed up and launched herself at the screen door with an almighty hiss. Cindy backed off and the pecking order was established. They became bosom friends.

Monica, the Burmese cat, would often lie inside Cindy's outstretched paws as they both slept on the verandah. At more active times, they would live facing each other and wrestle (with their claws withdrawn).

When Cindy was very old, we had to have her put down in the front yard of our house because she was in agony from a range of serious problems. Monica must have been watching because she suddenly disappeared. We found here hiding under a cabinet deeply distressed and she refused to come out for a very long time. They say that cats can soak up the emotion around them - I think this was particularly true of Monica, Besides, that day she lost a bosom friend with whom she had played everyday for many years.
