Very nice lens Joan. I have a 6-year old daughter who is thinking of taking up golf and I couldn't be more proud. I agree with your tip - a 3 wood, 5, 7 and 9 iron and a putter are basic equipment (and good enough).

My son started golf at an early age and now wants a career in golf, which hopefully he can achieve. I know exactly what you mean about how golf can impact on your life - and it can sometimes take over completely. Nice lens and congratulations on purple star!

I cannot believe I missed this lens before and could not agree with the sentiments expressed in it more. Yes I encourage my child to play golf but it was a long time ago. He now has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and is busy at the moment trying to become a golf pro. Blessed by a sporting Angel.

What a FABulous idea for a lens! I don't play golf (well, miniature golf lol, and I'm not very good at that lol), but I think it's a Brilliant idea to encourage children to play. Congratulations on an Excellent lens - great tips, and so much good information!

Always wanted to learn to golf. Never did. Will have to add it to my bucket list. Nice job.

Darling shots of that little 'red-headed' junior golfer -- I take it he's your grandson! Excellent advice for children who are interested in learning to play golf -- like dad, and sometimes grandpa or other relatives. My brother loves to play golf and got interested because our dad did and he learned to enjoy it from him.

Wow - from the photos it looks like your grandson has a really nice swing. My son plays golf too - he has his own set of clubs that his Grand-Dad bought for him. He went golfing with his Dad, Auntie and Grand-Dad a couple of weeks ago and went to a golf camp last summer. He really enjoys it!

We were too busy with soccer and baseball...it would have been nice to have at least introduced our boys to golf.

Wonderful topic, dear Joan! Golf is a wonderful sport for children and adults alike. The kids develop so many skills from this wonderfully fun game. My first husband and I golfed together and we taught our oldest daughter the game. Youngest just wasn't interested. I don't play any longer, that was another life but I do live on the 7th fairway so I haven't completely left the game. Your suggestion for the Jr clubs is an excellent one!

Great lens topic. We do not golf but know many families that do. Their kids love it. Blessed! http://www.squidoo.com/horseandpony-squidangel

Most excellent, Joan! Congratulations for your purple star for Golf For Kids! My grandson loves sports, and golf is one of his faves.

One of the best things the new adopted father to one of my foster daughters did was to enroll her in golf lessons...that was 9 years ago and today they play together.

This is great and wow a purple star already. I love it! Our grandson has taken up golf and enjoys playing with his granddad. Love the pictures!

My hubby is a golfer and both of my adult children play golf. Our local golf courses are 5 minutes away!

No golfers are not normally rude or loud, but my Dad taught my son a few choice expressions when he was teaching him how to play golf. Then my brother taught my son a few choice words when he had the audacity to beat his Uncle aged just 14 :)

Lovely idea for a lens Joan and I love the picutres.

Our kids participated in a golf clinic when they were younger. Not passionate players but they do still go out and play now and then. It is a valuable life time skill for sure!

My sons both play golf. Our younger son took lessons through First Tee, which is an excellent program that I would highly recommend. (Thanks for including the link to our First Tee, chosen as the best First Tee program in the nation!) This is an excellent presentation of reasons why children should learn to play golf. Very well done!
