The Best Golf Movies of All-Time

Ranked #1,490 in Sports & Recreation, #43,603 overall

The Greatest Golf Movies

Golf movies run the gambit of funny to teaching us about life. There aren't many out there, but they all have something to share and teach us. I love most golf movies, as the all almost end the same, with the ball going in the hole.

The Legend of Bagger Vance

This movie is one of my favorites of all time, it also has two of my favorite actors, Will Smith and Matt Damon. The movie also has Charlize Theron and Bruce McGill and is directed by Robert Redford.

Set at the end of the Bobby Jones era, a little town in the south that claims to have the best golfer in the world, however, he hasn't played in a long time. A match was setup between Matt Damon's character and the two most prolific golfers of their time, Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen.

With the help of his caddy, Bagger Vance (Will Smith), Matt Damon finds his golf swing and competes in the greatest golf contest of all time.

Love the movie and love the cast.

Tin Cup

Another great movie about life and how to get over your demons staring Kevin Costner and Renee Russo. Also featuring Don Johnson and Cheech Marin. PGA golfers, Gary McCord, Craig Stadler, and Peter Jacobsen also appeared in the movie.

Another movie about a golfer who lost his pride and needs someone to teach him to look at life the right way.

Two classic scenes in the movie are the 7-iron bet, and the Pelican shot.

Caddyshack

The golf movie that ends all golf movies. Caddyshack is a slapstick comedy starring Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield, and Ted Knight. Lots of conflicts in the movie, the rich vs the poor, the snobs vs common sense, and then there's the Gopher dancing. And after you see this movie, skip Caddyshack 2.

Classic scenes include the Pool scene, Be the Ball, and Bill Murray's Cinderella Man.
