Games to play during a golf outing?

Unlike Golf Course Games, golf outing games are part of what makes golf outings and charity golf events a lot of fun. The most common games are closest to the pin and longest drive. Hole-in-one contests are very popular as well. In fact, every par 3 should have some sort of game. For charity events, many of the games are geared toward earning money for the charity.

Gifts for Raffles

At the end of a golf outing, the raffles can be just as thrilling as the golf itself and allows non golfers to participate in these types of events. Finding cool golf gadgets or some simple gifts for golfers is easier than you think.

Longest Drive Contest

Played on a Par 4 or Par 5

type=textThe Longest Drive contest is just as it sounds. From the tee of a long Par 4 or Par 5, the golfer that drives the ball the farthest and keeps the ball in the fairway. Typically, there is a separate contest for men and women.

A contest marker is used to keep track of the current longest drive and who hit. The first group going off the longest drive tee is given the contest marker and the last group brings it in.

Closest to the Pin

Played on a Par 3

type=textOn a par 3, a contest called closest to the pin provides a lot of fun when teeing off. The golfer who puts their ball on the green and closest to the hole is considered the winner. Use a contest marker to keep track of who's ball is closest to the hole. Typically there is a men's contest and a women's contest.

Joker's Wild

Great for a Par 4 or Par 5

type=textAfter the team of 2-4 players tee off at the designated hole, usually the middle of the course. Each player picks one card from a non player holding 4 cards, face down. 3 cards are Aces and 1 card is a Joker. The whole team will then play from where ever the Joker player's tee shot.

Hole in One Contest

Played on a Par 3

A hole-in-one contest is a fun way to make some money for your charity and give every golfer the chance to win a lot of money. Typically on a hole-in-one hole, the first person to hit a hole-in-one wins a cash prize such as $10,000 or $1 million dollars. To run this hole, you will need a sponsor to buy hole-in-one insurance so that if a hole-in-one occurs, the insurance company will pay the prize.

A person is staged at the tee box of the hole and collects a fee, typically $1, $5, or $10 for those that want to enter the contest. The person then watches to see if a hole-in-one occurs and reports back to the outing manager.

Beat the Pro

Played on a Par 3

This is played on another par 3. As part of the using the golf course, sometimes you can get the local pro to have some fun on a par 3. The local pro takes bets that he can hit the ball closer to the pin than you can. If the pro's ball is closer the charity receives the money, if your ball is closer you win the bet.

The Cash Ring

Another Par 3 Game

With the permission of the golf course, a 20 foot ring is painted on the green. A bet is made that you can hit the ball within the ring. If you hit your ball within the ring, you win the bet, if not, the charity receives the money.

50/50 Raffle

During Post Outing Banquet

At the end of the outing, during dinner, a person is doing a 50/50 raffle. As the name implies the money raised while selling raffle tickets, 50% goes to the charity and 50% is given to the person with the winning raffle ticket.

Prize Raffle

During most charity golf outings, the hosts collect raffle prizes from the local businesses to give during a raffle at the post outing dinner. Golfers buy raffle tickets and the people with the winning tickets receive the prizes. The money collect goes to the charity.

Raffle Tickets

Typically, different colored raffle tickets are used to run the 50/50 raffle and the prize raffle.

Closest to the pin is always a fun hole. For our golf outing, I usually work that hole rather than actually golf. It can also be fun if you offer shots.

I enjoyed reading your lens. You have some great content for those persons wanting to run a golf tournament or golf outing. I am wondering if you would consider adding my "Mulligan Golf Cards"? They are a great way to add pizzazz and flare to a golf outing. Selling Mulligans is another way for charities to make money. Also they can be used for souvenirs, advertising, and raffles, to mention a few. If you have a minute, please check them out. Wishing all fun on the golf course and lots of money for your charities.
