Golf Putting Tips

The Putting stroke is the easiest shot in the game of golf, and yet, we make it so difficult.

How many times have you landed on the green in 2 only to waste 4 strokes ping ponging back and forth around the hole getting more and more frustrated?

The good news is nearly every golfer is making the same mistakes when putting and once you correct them your score will start dropping dramatically.

Check out the 3 simple technique below to start improving your game right now.

3 Huge Mistakes Most Golfers Make When Putting

and how you can avoid them...

Not Keeping Your Eyes Over The Ball

This simple mistake is the main reason that so many golfers make a mess when putting. It is also the easiest way I know to immediately start lowering your score and reducing those frustrating 3 or 4 putts.

To start lowering your golf score right now try this simple technique.

Set up a putt just like you would on the course. Now imagine a ball rolling off the end of your nose. Try to picture exactly where it would fall.

You are aiming to have your eyes positioned so that a ball falling from the bridge of your nose will land directly on top of your ball on the ground.

Do this imagination exercise every time you ball and you will start lowering your score quickly and easily without a lot of effort.

Letting Your Wrists Break Down

Is distance control your biggest problem when putting? If it is I can't nearly guarantee that you're letting your wrists break down while you are putting.

When you are making a putt your wrists should be firm and steady. It's the movement of your shoulders that is the key to great putting.

As you putt let your shoulders rock back and forth just like a pendulum. If you do this the distance you hit the putt can be controlled simply by how far back and forward you move your shoulders as you swing the putter.

When you loosen your grip and bring your wrists into the equation the ability to control distance becomes a lot more difficult.

Not Keeping Your Head Still During and AFTER the Putt

Every time you putt your head must remain completely motionless during and after the putt. Any head movement at all will make your putting inconsistent and unpredictable.

The next time you make a putt concentrate hard on staring at the ground where the ball used to be for at least 3 seconds after you make the stroke. (Don't worry your ball will be still there when you look up) This is tough at the beginning but it is a habit that is worth forming as it will lower you putting scores dramatically.
