Mental Golf: Being in the zone

Reach a peak performance level and realize their utmost potential is what most individual's desire. This is called being in the zone state, a very powerful state when playing golf mental game that helps golfers achieve their optimum potential that they never knew they can achieve and reach beyond their limitations. While in this state, golfers are able to shut down their conscious mind allowing their subconscious mind take over, be engulfed by the game, totally controlling every aspect of it and make what they have visualized happen.

This could happen when athletes, golfers in this sense, frees themselves from all restrictions brought about by unwanted thoughts, and other distractions and when the golfers release any emotional attachment allowing himself to perform without pressure. When a golfer is able to surrender mentally, the powerful subconscious mind take control and do his job. In no time, the golfers are able to achieve their absolute peak.

How can you be "in the zone"?

Let go

When you are facing a difficult shot, like hitting the shot in the water, release the tension you are feeling. Any negative feelings inside will be manifested outside - the body will become stiff and movements restricted thus affecting your overall performance. Hence, the best thing to do is relax your mind, condition it to take the shot without pressure. Let go of any emotional attachments.

Focus

Practice to "switch on" or "switch off" your golf concentration during the game. This way you will be able to save both your mental and physical energy and be able to finish the game to the last hole without being overly exhausted and playing consistently from the start of the game to the end. Negative thinking could slow down your reaction to the game. Learn to focus and refocus when needed. That's what top athletes do.

Be confident

Once you step up on the ball, have faith in yourself and be confident that you can swing the club and hit the ball exactly how you visualized it. Think only of the present shot - not the previous or the next. Disregard any unnecessary thoughts and baggage. Remember, any negative thoughts could send a wrong signal to your brain, producing chemical imbalance and as a result, affecting your performance. Optimizing this process inside the brain will also optimize the efficiency and power of your brain. Thus, allowing you to enter the zone.

Your mind and body function together. Your body reacts to what the brain is telling it to do. Your optimum potential can be reached when you learn to start on focusing to develop your mental skills plus a great deal of physical preparation. Acknowledge your limitations and stay focused on the applying the mental golf tips from your mental golf training to your game and maintain your confidence. Have fun with mental golf. Winning is just a plus.
