Golf Equipment and Accessories

Welcome to my Golf equipment and accessories pages on squidoo. My business partner and I run a golf equipment and accessories website called Planet Golf UK. We specialise mainly in junior golf equipment but we sell golfing equipment for adult and we have a section dedicated to ladies golf equipment as well.
We do not have a brick and mortal store for our golf equipment business, though we have a warehouse in West Yorkshire. In the next few days, I will be updating this pages with more info about our business, about golf equipment and golf in general. I hope you find this page useful and most importantly, if you are in UK or other part of Western Europe, you will visit our and even place and order for a golf equipment from Planet Golf UK.

We have been offering some excellent discount over the Christmas holidays. We are starting our new year sales from the first of January 2009.

How to choose the right golf equipment

Improve your game of golf

Choosing the right golf equipment can be one of the hardest decisions you will make. There is new technology and brands coming onto the market everyday that makes this decision even harder. This article will cover choosing your clubs, selecting a ball and will take a quick look at other golf equipment that is available.

Choosing your clubs
This is the probably the hardest decision in golf. There are many brands of clubs out there, all with claims to be using the latest and greatest technology. Your decision will most likely come down to the clubs that feel the best and that you are most comfortable with using.

Today most brands of golf clubs are available with both steel and graphite shafts. Steel will last longer than graphite, but will be heavier. Graphite is lighter and is often used to generate extra distance or for golfers with slower swings. Whichever you choose try to buy the best you can afford and you shouldn't be disappointed.

When choosing golf clubs many people have a professional fitting to customize the clubs to their needs. A professional golf fitting will adjust the clubs length, shaft type, flex type, lie angle and grip size and type, all to suit your style. Always try out as many clubs as you can and don't be pressured into buying one brand over all the others, you will know better than anyone what feels right for you.

Many people are now choosing to buy their golf clubs online as these types of stores have few overheads and can pass the savings onto the customers. Generally, online stores also have the added bonus of a larger stock selection. You can still research and trial your next set of clubs even if you want to buy them online. All you need to do is find a local shop that stocks the same clubs and give them a try in store. If they feel right it is a simple matter of ordering the same model online.

Selecting the maximum of 14 clubs can be difficult at times as there are more and more club choices available. Most golfers these days carry a set of clubs similar to this:
o Driver
o 3 Wood
o Rescue Club
o 2-9 Iron Set
o Pitching Wedge
o Sand Wedge
o Loft Wedge
o Putter

Selecting a ball
Every golfer has a preference when it comes to the type of golf balls they use. Most advanced golfers like a three or even four piece softer ball that will spin, and as technology advances this type of ball is becoming a preference amongst many golfers. Surveys of club golfer's show that a compression 90 rated ball is now the most commonly used.

When selecting a ball for yourself it is a good idea to purchase many different types with different ratings and try one each round until you find one you feel the most comfortable with. Don't always believe the advertising hype, but remember that not all balls are equal and a good ball, that you feel comfortable with, can knock a couple of shots off your handicap.

Other useful golf equipment
There are literally hundreds of items of extra golf equipment, but not all of it is useful. The most important item after your ball and clubs is your golf bag. Your golf bag should be durable, sturdy, carry everything you need and not be too heavy to carry or push/pull should your course not allow carts. You should always carry an umbrella and towel as you never know when the weather will turn nasty. Golf tees are also essential and always purchase tees that match your driver size. You will also need a marker for you ball and I always carry 3 or 4 just in case. Other golf equipment worth considering is golf shoes, gloves, cap or hat and covers for your brand new golf clubs to keep them in perfect order.
