Golf Tournament Gifts

Golfers are no exception to the rule that you want to remember a special event - and what better way is there than a special Golf Tournament Gift to remind them of that wonderful day when they won for the first time! Why should you give people a gift, it seems such a lot of trouble to go to, but it is an investment of time and effort that repays you time and again. Those small gifts can distinguish your tournament from all those run of the mill events and keep competitors coming back time after time, making your event more and more prestigious. Golf Tournaments are often run to raise money for charities or for your club so you want them to be as successful as possible and it is the small, thoughtful touches that make your event stick in the players minds. Those constant reminders every time the delve into their golf bag of that great day out will make those special Golf Tournament Gifts worth every penny you spend on them and give you a huge return on your investment.

Here are a few suggestions for a range of gifts from Tees that just cost a few cents to more elaborate gifts that you can give as prizes - and just to make it interesting there are a few of the best Golf Tournament tips that I've been given over the years - and I've won a few! One of the places I get a lot of my golf techniques information and inspiration from is BQ Browning's Golf Techniques and Tournament Tips, it's well worth a visit for any golfer.

We All Need Tees

Very few golfers play without Tees, they are something we all have in our bags and use on every hole. What better way to remind your players of their great day out than to start them off with a handful of Tees. You can put whatever message you want on them, something simple like the details of the event or perhaps a reminder of the cause you are supporting. If you are like me (and I suspect, most other golfers) you use different Tees for different clubs and shots off the Tee so whatever style you choose to give people they will get used and be that gentle reminder of a great day out.

Golf Tournament Tips 2 - On the Subject of Balls

Whilst we are on the subject of Golf Balls - do remember to mark your ball properly. You can put whatever markings you like on your ball - even a line round the middle that helps your putting set up is acceptable.

I use a combination of a line and an initial 'logo' so I can easily spot my ball. Remember - an unidentifiable ball is a lost ball and that can cost you two shots!

Golf Tournament Tips 3 - Putting For Dough

We all know that you drive for show and putt for dough - if you want to win you have got to get right on the Green and who better than the Putting Master to give you some guidance....

Golf Tournament Tips 4 - Etiquette

Golf is a game which is distinguished by it's adherence to a code of behavior and it is important to remember those unwritten rules, especially in a Tournament.

1 - Play in turn, keep an eye on the order of play and don't jump in ahead, or keep anybody waiting - be ready to take your shot when it's your turn

2 - Don't step on your opponent's Putting line

3 - Repair your pitch marks and rake the bunkers

4 - Keep up with the game in front, not just ahead of the one behind

5 - Get off the Green as soon as you have finished playing, mark your card at the next tee, not on the Green

6 - Don't talk when your opponent is taking their shot

7 - It's polite to remove your hat when shaking hands at the beginning and end of a round

8 - Don't drop rubbish on the course

Be ready to play when it's your turn!

Golf Tournament Tips 5 - Who are You Playing?

When you are playing in a 'Stroke Play' tournament, always play the course. Forget what your playing companions are doing, they are not your opponent, the course is. If you get too tied up in what everyone else is doing you will lose your concentration.

If you are playing a 'Match Play' tournament then treat each hole as a separate game. Play the hole you are playing and don't think about the last one or the next one, just be focused. It can all hinge on one hole, or even one stroke so you need to block out everything else.

Be Focused

Golf Tournament Tips 6 - The Seeking and Giving of Advice

The rules on giving advice have recently changed, you can now ask your playing partners for distance confirmation without penalty - but that is all! Seeking or giving any other advice will cost you penalty shots - even if your playing partners are your normal Saturday fourball. In a competition, you have to abide by the strict rules of golf, not your own personal set of rules.

Golf Tournament Tips 7 - Marking Your Card

If you want to walk away from the tournament with the top prize you must make sure that you complete your card properly before you sign it. Double check that you have added it up right and that your score agrees with your marker. Just think how heartbreaking it would be if you thought you were walking away with the top prize only to lose it on a technicality
