Using A Lob Wedge

How, why and when do you play a lob wedge?

Golf Wedges

How to maximise your golf

The Lob wedge
came into existence after years of golf players grinding the bounce off of their sand wedges to get an easier contact on the ball when playing off grass. The bounce is the raised bump on the sole of the sandwedge which allows it to bounce through the sand, which makes playing from the fringe or fairway quite a challenge.
So what is the lob wedge for? Basically it allows a nice high shot with a little forward motion to jump a bush say, or even a tree if you are brave enough.
How do you play it? Simply play a bunker shot but off the grass. That means, position yourself slightly open to the target, ie feet, hips and shoulders pointing left, swing with an out to in path cutting across the ball, this will lift it almost straight up so you do have to make a full swing or you won't go anywhere. This is a difficult shot to master and can go drastically wrong so practice it before you attempt it on the course.More info visit
