Gonal F Injections

This image is a picture of the cool bag of goodies that I received from the fertility clinic. It included the injection liquid itself, needles, the puregon pen, alcohol wipes and an instruction leaflet.

The gonal f injections need to be kept in the fridge and then just get out to inject and put them straight back. I was given a nice little cool bag to keep everything in.

As you can see it's not easy to find space in my fridge, but I did manage to squeeze it in next to the sour cream, lol.

It just looks like a normal pen, hey ? I really don't know why they call it a pen - do you ? It all comes apart so that you can add the needle and then dispose of it after use and also add the fluid to be injected. All in all it is really the most clever little pen I have used.

The first thing to so is to pull off the blue top of the pen and then unscrew the yellow part. Then you place the gonal f injection fluid container over the top half of the pen and screw the yellow bit back . Then you go on to add the needle bit - stop worrying, you will be fine,

Take the top wrapper off the needle, then pressing it down firmly onto the yellow part, screw it on. Then pull the white cover off, which should reveal another white cover that just covers the needle. Take this off too. Voila, the needle - see it isn't that scary is it?

Next, you need to turn the dial at the base of the Puregon Pen to the amount of IUI that should be injected. I am on 50 per day, hence the 50 in the image. You will here a click, click sound when you turn the dial. If you go too far DONT turn the dial backwards, keep going forwards all the way until the yellow bit is out fully and then put it back in.

It's important to dispose of the needle properly. I have started a little plastic container of the needles and Jane at my fertlity clinic has asked that I return them to her so that she can dispose of them. The needle still sticks out inside the plastic cap, so if a child or even an adult was to get hold of it, it could easily hurt.

The gonal f injections didn't work for us. I know I only had one month on them so I didn't actually give them a fair chance, but the money is running out and I am fed up of pumping myself with drugs.
